your all missing the point, the entire pipeline goal is not to issue some useless plastic card but to use the threat of public buying power to trigger off a fuel price war which will then gain the weight of the major petrol retailers and suppliers behind the true goal of pushing the government in to reducing fuel tax.

FYI Ben Scammell is a well known Motor racing enthusiast who has been campaigning for lower fuel tax since at least 2003

I'll believe it when it happens. I didn't sign up to it and think that it is all just hype. Maybe he is just using this Pipeline Card as a tool to A: make a political point about fuel duty, B: peddle some of his cheap electronic stuff to line his pockets by using his own captive audience as his customer base.

Your still missing the point!

The point is that Pipeline approach the big fuel retailers with what amounts to an ever growing list of people whose buying of fuel can be controlled by pipeline should they wish.

The theory is they that the retailer approached will not want to risk losing that much custom, and a price war is started (already happening IMHO) then as profits get tighter and tighter for the fuel retailers, they add their commercial pressure to the already massive public pressure and the government in the best case scenario are effectively forced to drop fuel tax or risk economic implosion as fuel stations across the country shut down.


Thats the basic theory any way, if all go's according to plan then not a single plastic card will ever need to be printed.

I signed up after I heard, from various sources including himself, that Richard Hammond had signed up, someone who knows motoring quite well (and is also a biker, not that that has anything to do with fuel )

Whether ther will be a reduction for card holders or not, I don't know, but it costs nothing and you can take yourself off the list at any time.

at the end of the day, its a free card (if it happens) and the deals could be quite usefull and its not like he's passing all of our emails around!
