When my old Guzzi 350 returns from bike hospital, the plan is for my wife to ride it after passing on her 125. When it was made in 1985, the claimed power was 36BHP. Obviously lots of years use will have reduced it to what I would have thought would be under the restricted limit.

If my wife was stopped by the police and the bike checked, how would they verify the legality of riding it?

Any opinions?

Hey,
Somebody found out for sure the other day that it wasn't a legal reuqirement to have a certifcate to show the bike is restricted. I would also think that after 21 years it would have lost a few BHP and would be well within restriction limits.

Even if this isn't the case theres people out there on restricted licences riding bikes that are maybe 3 times over there restriction period, im sure no ones going to notice its 3BHP over.

When i first passed i jumped straight onto my RD350, unrestricted, and never had a problem. I was also riding my 50 odd BHP GPZ400R while restriced. Yes i know its naughty but no one ever battered an eye lid. I was stopped a couple of times on the GPZ and nothing was ever mentioned about BHP.

Personally i wouldn't worry about it, it isn't like its massively over the restriction limit.

Cheers,
Shaun.
