ive always wanted to know.....
why is it when you pull up at traffic lights there is always someone in chav-mobile that thinks he can beat you to the next set of lights?? then gets made to look stupid when you leave him for dust.
do they ever learn?????

actually I've never had anybody try to race me off the line. Other than a quick drag race with a mate on a Korean scooter (haha). That failed though as I was supposed to be showing him the way to somewhere and completely lost all sight of him, resulting in me pulling over listening out for the "riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing" sound.

sorry ,off topic, heh.

I remember having some Pikey/Chav type in a beat-up old Cavalier wanting a race off some lights when I was on my CB.

Obviously I had to teach him a lesson, and yup, I left him for dust...maybe a silly thing to do, but it felt sooooo good! Laughing

Depends on where you live I think.

Never really get it around here; definitely not riding a fast looking/sounding bike.

A while ago I had 5 yoofs in a 1.4 corsa or something try to race me on my clapped-out looking rd350 and someone in a beemer on my underpowered at the time (37hp) RS250.

Now, car or bike, if I'm at the front of traffic lights pretty much everytime they go green for me, it's a race.

However around here it's very rare that any one else will try.
Did get my arse kicked by an Audi TT driven by an oldish woman the other day - but I was in my 8v 1.8 laguna Smile.

I very very rarely get raced these days.

Had a big escalade with 'blingin' rims try it on the other day. Gave me a good run for my money. Of course I obliterated it.

Also had a white honda integra give it a go, I was surprised how quick that was.

He also got schooled.

I did have a chap in Brecon trying it on in a chrysler crossfire, he saw me coming then pulled out and gunned it past a line of traffic, dont know what engine those have but it wasnt in any way fast from where I was sitting, and gave him a little beep as I passed him like an exocet missile Wink

I'd like to be raced more. One thing I really pine for is the typiacal chav corsa, maybe a 106 (Gti of course, everyone knows they are the fastest production car ever) to pull up next to me, two lads i the front, two girls in the back.

The perfect scenario would be him revving the tits off at me wanting to race, and me just riding along side him nice and calm, maybe looking in at his female passengers once he starts ragging it from one set of lights to the next. Then at the next set just leaving him for dust.

Hopefully if i'm lucky enough for there to be a third set, when he finally pulls along side me, I can look in at him sitting trying to stare forward and not look at me, and laugh.

When the day that situation arises, I will be happy Smile

Passed a new ferrari on Friday, I just had to get past it, not that it was going over 60... Smile

What's worse is when you leave someone for dust and they then keep the power on over a mile or so to try and catch up. I had an audi try it on, I left them standing and once I was up to road speed I waited and sure enough they came tanking past, before having to slam on to avoid rear ending the line of cars ahead.

idiot.. Smile

best one was my ex-boss in his 3L Capri against an escort Xr3i some years back. He booted it from the escort who was revving for a race and dissapeared into the distance as the Capri would do 130+. He pulled off the Dual Carriageway and off up the exit ramp, stopping at the top to wait for the traffic to clear.

Cue a screaming engine and a squeal of tyres behind him as the Xr3i (trying to catch up) slammed on too late for the junction, slid past, narrowly missed all the cars, tore through the chrevron sign and plunged down onto the embankment next to the carriageway. My boss and his family (the car was full BTW:) got out, rushed over to check on the guy who simply said, "Did you see whare that git in the capri went?"

My Boss slammed the door, left him in the car and drove off, pausing only briefly to call an ambulance.

K.

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago -

Filtered through the traffic to the front of the lights. Sat there for a couple of minutes and sussed out all the cars around me and where I was going to head for. Lights go green and I easily move off - not fast but faster than most cars. Half way across the lights I hear this terrible screaming noise - quick mirror check and the Punto next to me has disappeared - quick lifesaver and next to me is this fiat screaming its nuts off - can't have this - I'm on about 4000RPM, so squeeze a bit more throttle and off I go. 7000RPM, not even into the powerband, and he's ancient history! Next set of traffic lights Punto man comes screaming into the lane next to me - shoots straight over the white line and stops on the pedestrian crossing a good 15ft ahead of me. Lights go green, the sound of screaming Punto fills the air as I gently cruise past him again. Surely he must have learnt his lesson by now - nope, next set of lights he starts to spin the wheels of this poor little Punto. Same routine, cruise past with grace and elegance, while wetting myself with laughter ! Finally my turn off came, where he promptly sailed by hanging out of the window shouting abuse at me!

Such fun!

Cheers

Dave

Oh yeah, another one at some lights I just remembered. A police car with a very weird driver. I was sitting calmly waiting to go. He kept looking over at me with a frowned face and then kept looking at the lights and so on. As soon as it turned amber, he floored it and left me in his dust. Hahaha.

I was just having a nice calm ride. Couldn't help but laugh in my helmet. What a strange mofo.

Which one? The 430 or 599 GTB?

https://www.autoblog.nl/images/ferrari_f599_gtb_fiorano_rear.jpg

If it was the first one, i rinsed one of them when i was on the 6RR, even on my pootling little 250 i seem to do race starts fairly reguarly Embarassed

EDIT: Tried it on with a fairly pimped up looking Skyline R34 a while back...i got buttfucked!

Saw him pull into the petrol station so i followed for a chat, he was making 900 bhp at the wheels!

I lost to a 575 in summer at Hendon Central. Both of us easily hit 60. I didn't loose dignity because he looked at me and smiled. Then did the same thing again at the next set of lights, where he, err most literally merked me! Laughing

I wasn't too happy when i got Pwn3d by a Jap'd out supra along Baker street! But it was a nice car. Black with i think a veilside body kit and this and that sort of tat.

My only race so far was with a BMW X5 jeep, he was in the left lane so i thought i'd overtake him, 155mph later on the R6 & i'm not closing the gap (although i wasn't down or fully on the throttle). How fast are these things??

A friend tried racing me in he's Clio sport, awfully slow once you've ridden a bike. Was expecting much more.

Lol, One suprised the hell out of me too. They are generally driven by twats but i'll give them their dues, when the foot goes down they shift at a fair rate.

0-60mph in 7 seconds and a 150mph top speed, dunno how fast 600 sports go but probably not much more then that.

Impressive for a Jeep. Look great in black too.

I've told this story before but it always amuses me.

Two of my mates went to a "run what you brung" at Crail drag strip a while back.

First mate was on a totally original RD250 and was drawn against a corsa with all the body kit on and two neds in it. They were sat on the line with the RD ring-ding-dinging when one of the Neds stuck his head out of the window and asked "Whit you call that piece of crap then?". Lights change, RD sets off in a cloud of strawberry scented putoline smoke with the front wheel skimming the ground and beat them by two car lengths. Laughing

Other mate was on a very souped up but normal looking BSA A65, got drawn against a porche 911. A much closer run thing but the BSA pulled ahead in the last 100 yards and beat the porche by a narrow margin. The Porche driver was later seen looking over the parked bike and scratching his head when he thought noone else was looking.

I've always wanted to race somebody, preferably a boi racer sort from the lights (Immature I know Razz ), but never encounted one yet. Although I do remember I was once sat at some lights and I could see this young lad behind me leaning out of the window staring at me. So I decided to give him some wow factor and as soon as the lights turned amber within about 4 seconds and 100 yards later I was doing 60mph whilst they had moved about 2 feet rofl Laughing

Only real time it's ever happened to me, was when i was on my way home from a sunday ride out 3years ago. I was on my ZX6R, and a guy pulled up next to me at a set of lights on a dual carridgeway, in a Ferarri F355 Spider.

He won because i let him go first, i thought it was quite amusing to see this expensive supercar, snaking and squirming accross the road, and it sounded quite nice too, being revved flat out through the gears. I got bored of sitting on his bumper at 80mph, so i let him go, only to overtake him again in traffic later! Smile

Quick question though stink, is a Porche similar to a Porsche by chance? Razz
