6 point rule...

Ok this is a bit of an odd one, a guy at work had his license revoked before because he got 6 points in his first 2 years of having his license, he then got his license back with the 6 points included. He has now been caught speeding and isn't sure whether this means he's going to have his license revoked again or not?

Bassically if he can tot up 9 points he'll accept the fine but if it means his license will be revoked again then he may as well try fighting it, any ideas knowledgeable ones?

I think he should try slowing down

I think as he only had the license revoked he should now essentially have a full allocation of points avaiable to him if he's now out of the two years. Although this isn't based on any sort of fact and so could be wrong.

as far as i know you are allowed to accumulate a total of 12 points on your license i.e through speeding, jumping red lights etc
but if you hit 12 points you will get a TT99 (totting up points) on your license and receive a ban. but im not sure what the rule is around receiving an X amount of points in a certain time period

Once you've got through the money making scheme of 6 point rule then you can acheive 12 points on your score card.

afraid not, for dvla etc it will stay on your license for 3 years. but some insurers will ask for anything in the last 5 years (like the one i work for, and it sucks)

The New Drivers Act applies to individuals who passed their test on or after 1st June 1997. If you reach 6 or more penalty points within two years of passing your test, your driving licence is automatically revoked. To regain your full licence, you must drive as a learner and take both the theory and practical tests again.
Penalty points counting towards the total of six include any you incurred before passing the test, as long as the offence took place not more than three years before the latest penalty point offence. Points imposed after the probationary period will also count if the offence was committed during that period. Passing the retest does not remove penalty points from your licence, and if the total reaches 12, you are liable to be disqualified by a court.

Erm, that would suggest that any further points will see him having to retake the test.

Which seems to be the general theme - basically, get more than one set of points and you'll have to retake your test.
