...And now I'm a little freaked out.

Is this likely? Or did I imagine it?

And before any smart-asses try and reply, it was the car variety and not the other one.

I had one take my picture before, nothing came off it, was freaked out like you though.

Did he take it of the front or rear?

He took it from the front, about 20 feet away from me as I was passing him.

I was doing about 20 in a 30 zone, slowing down in the wet approaching some red lights (doing nothing out of the ordinary at all).

To be honest the flash phased me since it was the middle of the night, blinded me for a few seconds.

Maybe they were taking pics for evidence for something - e.g. this would have been the view the driver had before he mowed the motorcyclist down ....

By the way, I remember a while back you were going for a job up at Cardiff Gate - did you get it? My girlfriend works up there at Swalec, she used to ride an SR125 until a few weeks ago when some twat took het out. She's now got a blue jap import YBR125.

Cheers

Sounds like they are keeping an eye on the bikers in the area and taking photos means they can match descriptions when someone phones them and says 'some tit is wheeling his yellow bike up the orad outside my house and he's wearing x coloured helmet' or whatever.

If you want to be paranoid you could go along the lines of thought that they havent took your picture, they have infact 'stolen your soul'.

Go into the cop station and explain that you were riding your bike on wet roads and night and some stupid c*nt in a panda car blinded you with a flash gun. Ask for an explanation and an apology.

I had heard the rumor about photos being used because of bikers taking the piss through forward facing cameras. I thought they were supposed to be using the photo from the camera it's self though not rolling around with Polaroids. I would like to see them try and use it in a court of law as sole evidence for conviction; I'm sure the law states "Beyond all reasonable doubt". Confused

The theory that the police are taking pictures to build a database doesn't really make sense. They took the picture from the *front* - they have as much information as forward facing cameras would give them, which we all know is diddly squat.

Good idea to have a couple of sets of kit me thinks. Wink

I would go down to your local cop shop and ask why, if you're filmed on CCTV you have a right to view ALL footage of you from whovere runs the camera(s), no doubt the same would apply in this case? And surely they couldn't use this "evidence" of you not commiting a crime against you? It'd be like them going round swabbing people with out their permission to get their DNA for sex attacks etc?

Hey man sorry to hear about that - what sort of work are you after? my girlfriend was in a similar situation before she started with Swalec and I know its not fun.

Luckily my good lady is as tough as old boots - the bruises were seriously impressive. She's happy now though as she's got an absolutely mint new bike. It's funny, because it is a jap import it has the small light fairing with built in indicators covering the clocks. As a result she has a great big square headlight on the front - even though it's a 125 people think it is a bigger bike and move out of her way when filtering.

Where abouts did you get snapped?

Cheers

Dave

Wonder what would happen if you had taken a 'controlled off', and blamed it on being blinded? I wouldn't be arsed about being logged, but at night with a flash seems bloody stupid.
