Please be at Hullavington for 2:30. If you can't make it for that time, please leave a note in here.

There are still places available, so if any people want to come at the last minute, you should be ok.

I expect a few people will be leaving Reading at 1:30.
If you need/want a lift from Reading, then that can be arranged - please turn up at my place at the very latest at 1'o'clock.
Give me a shout if you need directions to mine or to Hullavington.

Although they can provide all the kit, ideally you should bring:
Karting:
Your own helmet, so you don't use one of their ones that have been on a hundred other people's heads this year.

Minimoto:
Your own helmet, armoured bike jacket and bike gloves. These aren't absolutely essential - I managed to forget my bike jacket when we popped in for a quick session with Gaz - crashed on one of the fast bits and came off ok.

I would recommend an old pair of jeans that allow reasonable flexibility and some old footwear that is also reasonably flexible. I use HiTech (army style) Magnum boots that are well worn in, so allow me to bend my ankle appropriately. Most big-bike boots will probably be too stiff, however plenty use an old pair of trainers.

See you there!

Looking forward to it,
If Gommers can get to me early enough, we will buzz by yours at 13:00 see if anyone needs a lift.

I have space for 2/3 going from Morden (SW London) gimme a shout if I can help anyone

The Damn M4 was shut...

it took two and a half hours to get to Newbury, only to find the M4 was shut from there onwards.

Arse.

Had an excellent time, was gutted that some of you got stuck in that accident Sad

Just means we'll have to go again in the new year Thumbs Up

*Edit*

Just looked up and it was an over turned lorry between J13-14. Still serious by the sounds of it too.

I thought it was a bit weird that you guys didn't follow me...I eventually got there at about 4pm. Typical of Korn to make the decision in the big orange van, and then park up on the M4 for a few hours...despite knowing that it's shut...Rolling Eyes

Words can't express how angry I am that I couldn't go MM or Karting today.

I'm not even sure that Thumbs Down Arse or Thumbs Down Balls covers it to be honest.

Fecking lorries, Death traps the lot of 'em!

I followed a LPG Tanker most of the way on the M4 and it was tilted on its suspension by about thirty degrees! Looked like it could tip over at any point and the bloke was driving like it was normal!

There are a lot of fookwits out there.

Out of interest, I assume we just lose our deposits?

I can't believe that I wasted half a day, a quarter of a tank of petrol and the deposit today. Not a good day.

Hi,

There is a little money left over after the balance had been paid Smile which I will send to G. It is not enough for everyone to have a full deposit back Sad . In theory none was refundable as we had the place booked and stuff.
I'll let G sort it out though.

Sorry you all got stuck

Regards
Charlotte

I'm very very wound up at the moment, and I still have to go out and pick Sarah up. And guess where I have to go? Yes, the M4 Evil or Very Mad

I am grateful for you getting some money back though Charlotte! thanks.

I was slightly wiser than that lot by going on my bike, so I just filtered through all the traffic.

However I forgot to take my map or any directions and knew they would be ages so turned around and went home. Laughing Embarassed

Sorry, it was a very last minute decision we were going to turn back.. with hindsight we should have called both yourselves and mark. But sorry I didn't think and was driving. Neutral Were you ahead of our group on the motorway or behind?

I called ste at about 2:45pm, so got through the traffic in about 30 mins, maybe less. That's when I realised I had no map, I had got verbal directions off ste when we first got upto the traffic.

Started heading home around 3pm. Saw Korn and Ste sitting in the traffic que a fair way back when I was going home, cant miss the big yellow van sitting in the outside lane of the M'way Very Happy. I knew you were going to be at least an hour so just decided to go home. Smile

It couldn't be easier to find either. Just come off at J17 and head towards Cirencester, you go right past it!

Hi

Photos for those who did not suffer the misfortune of a closed motorway.

https://www.alfa-pages.co.uk/TempPicture/Hullavington/SHOW-20061216-Hullavington/

Unfortunatly the pics of the karting seem to have been wiped.

All the best

Keith
