MOT question

Ok, im going to put my bike through the mot soon, and as some of you may be aware, i recently threw her up the road. so i have a few questions.

how important is the state of the fairing for mot? if i have plastic wielded some parts together, is it still ok? if i have no fairings on at all is it ok?

does a scratched headlight lense pass?

do i need pillion pegs on both sides? (one broke off, LHS, but the other on the RHS is also the exhaust bracket)

my thermostat doesnt work, my fan is operated by a manual switch on my dash now, is that ok?

erm, i think thats about it, just wondering if anybody knows if these things will effect my mot.

Hi

Lack of fairings should be fine, as long as nothing sharp is sticking out.

Headlight will probably be OK, but if it has been lobbed at the scenery fairly hard then the aim is likely miles off.

You should need pillion pegs, but you might get away with it.

Radiator fan is not an MOT item.

the headlightn not too bad, its screwed onto the nose fairing, and ive used washers in the past to adjust its direction.

Remember that having the bike look a mess is likely to get the MOT tester to check more carefully.

yea, im going to have it in as good a shape as possible, its just that i cant really afford to buy all my bits and pieces, so the more i fix myself, the better. It will be treated to a nice new paint job, and all the metal work will be nice and polished before i go for the mot anyway.

My bike failed an MOT due to one of the foot pegs snapped off when i was getting it out of my garage on MOT day. Rang the Test station first to explain that I had ordered a new one but it wouldn't be there for a coupe of days. They still wouldn't pass it, but gave me a free re-test a week later.



As Keith says give the bike a good wash before you take it in to make a good impression. Also double check the headlight isn't cracked as that will fail.

Either is Ok as long as nothing is flapping or sticking out.

should not affect it.

This is a problem and will fail. Your better off replacing the footpeg with a bolt. it can't fail if not fitted but will fail if damaged.

So long as there are no sharp edges on your fairing and its secured properly you should be ok.
As for the footpegs,If you have a pillion seat you must have rear footpegs else you get a faliure.
By the sounds of things you should take the bike off the road and bring it back to a decent condition.
