Would you rather the media didn't cover the story? Would you rather it was kept quiet as not to upset or shock you?

I think its good that its getting lots of covorage and people know whats going on. Its a morality lesson if nothing else.

Its started to die down slightly now, still in the news though. However i drove along the A14 yesterday which is parallel to where the last 2 bodies were found. It was horrible, during the day you could clearly see the two white tents that had been erected, made me feel sick, knowing two dead people are under them Sad

And on the way back last night its even worse because the whole place is floodlit and makes it quite eery.

Yeah, I find it intersting, whats wrong with that? When the story comes on the news I turn the volume up and listen intently rather than just switching the channel.

Couldnt agree more, this is fantastically interesting. In fact it has been one of the most interesting things on tv all week. Just because its found interesting certainly doesnt mean that it is entertaining people. If you lived here you would understand the interest. There is a more of a sense of community, people feel they can talk to each other, who they wouldnt normally talk with, about what has happened. On any other day it would be highly unlikely for me to talk to a stranger on the bus, yet this week i was able to have a full conversation with six other people. although it is worrying that people feel they can talk to one another when if anything people should feel more cautious. Suffice to say i guarantee the majority those living around here have been glued to there tv every week night at 6. The local paper has sold more because this story is interesting. It arouses and holds the attention of people! You only need to look at the amount of phone calls, emails and intelligence the police have received because people are interested, thousands of them, and it has been a fundamental advantage. Something like this has never happened round here, and yes it is awful, but there is no escaping the fact that us British are eager to know more and more. Like black knight said, i would be much more concerned if the story did not gain any interest. The consequences for that could be terrible! Events like this will interest and continue to interest people, even the minority of you who say its wrong to be interested, are interested yourselves, otherwise you would not of bothered to click the thread or even post if you werent interested.
Like i said, events like this will always gain interest. Fact.

They've arrested a suspect.

Scene at Trimley St Martin where a 37-year-old man was arrested

A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering five women whose bodies were found at sites around the Ipswich area.

Supermarket worker Tom Stephens was arrested by police at his home at Trimley St Martin, near Felixstowe.

He is being held on suspicion of murdering prostitutes Gemma Adams, Anneli Alderton, Tania Nicol, Paula Clennell and Annette Nicholls.

Mr Stephens is in custody at an unnamed police station in Suffolk.

Items removed

He is due to be questioned by detectives later on Monday.

The house, in Jubilee Close, Trimley St Martin had been visited by police earlier in the investigation and items had been taken away for examination.

An interview given by Mr Stephens was published in the Sunday Mirror.

Det Ch Supt Stewart Gull said: "We will not be naming the police station where the man is being held.

"As legal proceedings are now active, Suffolk Police will not be issuing further comments or appeals at this stage."

The five dead women were all found naked in rural settings within 10 miles of Ipswich.

They all worked as prostitutes, were drug-users and their bodies were found close to the A14 road.

Mr Stephens was arrested at 0720 GMT on Monday in the village, which is close to the A14 road between Ipswich and Felixstowe.

The deaths of the five sex workers prompted a murder investigation on an unprecedented scale in recent British history, with officers receiving a large amount of potential evidence and thousands of calls from the public.

"Getting off", no, definitely not.

Morbid fascination? Perhaps.

Interested as I grew up in Ipswich? Definitely.
