Hi there

Have been dreaming about bikes again and as i already have a ZZR600e (which i can't ride yet!) I was thinking about getting a new bike of the same type. I happened across a zzr600 (2006/7) on a website and liked the look- like mine just updated- see the link

https://www.kawasakimotorcycle.org/zzr600.php

...i found that it was in fact an USA site so looked for similar from a UK distributor, but i couldn't find one. What was advertised as a ZZR600 here looks exactly the same as my old bike- check out the link:

https://www.seastarsuperbikes.co.uk/zzr600e2006.html

So i checked down the list of 2007 bikes and found the zx6r, which seems similar to the US bike but not the same- see the link

https://www.seastarsuperbikes.co.uk/KAWASAKIMODELS/Kawasaki%20%2006%20800/ZX636c/06zx636c_lim_rf800.jpg

So whats going on? I want the US bike but can't find one...any ideas?

cheers

jo

A UK ZZR600 is the same as a US ZX-6 (no "R")

A ZX6R is a whole different beast.

The 2005 ZZR600(in US) was a reissue of the 2000-2002 ZX600J (ZX-6R) model and remains unchanged. I heard when ZZR600 dropped from US lineup, dealer requested "we need ZZR for touring use", and ZX600J was supplied as ZZR600.

I do have one although i have yet to ride it as im not insured yet (my dad uses it for now). It seems quite comfortable to sit on and my old man manages some longer distances with dodgy knees and backs. You get a good mix of tourer and sport leaning more towards the sport side of things. Had no mechanical problems except for a flat battery due to lack of use. More than enough power and torque and space for soft throw over panniers for touring. Not too bad insureance depending on age (dad 45 fully comp £200) (me 20 fully comp 820 although will drop to around 480 when im 21). Make sure if you get one you get yellow and black as there faster lol. Actually theres a couple of tidy ones on ebay right now e.g

item numbers

170060100551 (looks very good)

200060261403

Sorry don't know how to link.

Hi there

here's the link for the bike

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170060100551&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26satitle%3D170060100551%26fvi%3D1

Looks in cracking condition, what d'you think the difference would be between this and a zzr600e? Are they basically the same beast underneath?

Wish i could get the DAS out of the way so i could get on my ZZR and stop dreaming! Isn't it funny how you always find yourself thinking one bike ahead! Not had the zzr for long, spent all my time sticking bits on/ fixing and polishing and am already looking to my next purchase!

take care

J

I don't really know what the differences would be maybe just the way the power is delivered??

Hi

Totally different bike from the ZZR. Different power delivery, riding position, suspension. Pretty much everything.

All the best

Kind of off topic.. But going with the ZZR/ZXR theme;

I was having an arguement with a friend down the pub the other day, and he said the ZX-14R is a different bike to the ZZR1400, and that in the States they were given the ZX-14R and here we got the ZZR1400, cus it's softer and not quite as quick etc..
From what I'd read, they're the exact same bike, just with different badges.

Anyone know for sure?

The first pic you posted is the ZZR 2005/2006 onwards spec with the single pipe (rather than the older twin) and new body styling. The second pic is the zzr 600 2004 and earlier release (Up to and including the E12 release I think). Same style as my '02 - E10.

The frame and engine is the same I think but all the plastics, the forks I think and the Exhaust is different.

I can't remember the naming convention but in the UK it's called the ZZR-600 and I think in the States it's got a different name, just can't remember what. When ordering parts you can specify zx6r I think as a lot of the kit is interchangeable? The engine is the same as or very similar to the Zx6r lump. I haven't seen one of the new style in the UK but hoping to have a sit on one soon.. Smile The last ZZR 1200 was a comfy bike, tried one out at last years NEC show.

K.

ZZR in the states is the ZX6-E or the newer model is called the ZZR which is the ZX6-R J

The older model shares the same engine as the older 6-r's although slightly detuned and the machine is heavier and focused more for touring. That said it can keep up with newer sportbike models in most situations..

cheers

as he said, if you want an older one of their ZZR's buy a ZZR E1-E?? For a later model US ZZR buy a ZX6r... not sure what benefit you are hoping for by finding an import though?

cheers

Quite right

my thinking was more to do with getting a new bike rather than one thats 3-4 yrs old, a new one would be out of my price range anyway so i guess its an academic point!

cheers
