I would say from that list Jack the Ripper. Mainly because of the dark London streets, where they took place. Spooky mysteriousness to it.

Another not from the list would have to be Vlad the Impaler (yeah I know, he was a ruler, so doesnt really count...but he still killed a lot of people in a sick way). His victims death tolls were in the thousands!

wikipedia wrote:
His method of torture was a horse attached to each of the victim's legs as a sharpened stake was gradually forced into the body. The end of the stake was usually oiled, and care was taken that the stake not be too sharp; else the victim might die too rapidly from shock. Normally the stake was inserted into the body through the anus and was often forced through the body until it emerged from the mouth. However, there were many instances where victims were impaled through other bodily orifices or through the abdomen or chest. Infants were sometimes impaled on the stake forced through their mother's chests. The records indicate that victims were sometimes impaled so that they hung upside down on the stake.

As expected, death by impalement was slow and painful. Victims sometimes endured for hours or days.

That depends on the source, since there were other murders that may have been committed by him. Even the Met police website has information on him and relates a possible 11 murders to him.

Me, one day I will be acknowledged for my killing greatness, I have yet to get caught but I reckon I'll give myself up on my death bed.

Wink

Since he was never officially caught then he could have committed many more, although in different ways, since the extreme mutilation kind of ties the murders we know about together. I find it unlikely that someone with that mindset just wakes up one morning and thinks "I'm a bit bored of hacking up whores now, think I'll try embroidery".

Very true.

William Gull, with his senile dementia, sort of fits into place.

Just one of many theories, I know. But seems to be the one that fits best in my opinion, but then I'm no criminologist.
