I won the Ebay auction for the CB500. Bidding finished at £1350. I'm still kind of shaking. Confused Laughing

Just to remind you all:

Quote:
Manufacturer: Honda Year of Registration: 1995
Type: Tourer/All-Rounder Engine Size: 500 cc
Mileage: 27000 MOT Certificate: 6 Months Remaining...this is a superb purchase...this bike has no details whatsoever, apart from a litle scrach on head light arc,(foto), tyres, chain sprockets, body, absolutly mint...it has done just over 27000 miles with full history and 2 former keeper

I have just done an hpi check and it seems to all clear. I will have to spend all day tomorrow trying to find the money. I'm going to get a Cahoot loan but I'm presuming they can't get the money into my account the same day so I will have to max my overdraft, and borrow money from my girlfriend.

Let's hope it's not a heap of shit eh? Shame it's not yellow! Wink Very Happy

I won't deny that the people here strongly influenced me towards the GS or CB and away from the ER-5. I think the ER-5 is worth avoiding judging by the fuel cap alone! Wink

He's bringing it to my work tomorrow where I will store it as I have to wait for my Planet insurance to run out next week so I can get my NCB and insure the CB.

So I'll be riding the Planet for another week then "cleaning it up" to try and sell it. Very Happy

Enjoy Very Happy

Remember to phone around lots of companies before hand.

Some won't mind if there's only a few days in the NCB, providing you send it off when you get it.

No, I dsitinctly remember that you told Grooves to listen to me and get a CB400, which he didn't, so there. Razz

The english on the description is a bit dodgy, but the picture looks ok, although the exhaust collector and down pipes could with a coat of Hammerite.

Most loan companies can have the money in you account within minutes. Mine took 20 minutes.

Cahoot was by far the best loan deal. I got approved instantly but I think it will take a few days to get the money into my account.

I will be sorry to see the Planet go because to be honest I think it is a very sexy bike, and it will be a long time before I can afford a big bike that I think is a nice as the Planet. I was riding alot with my girlfriend on the back and I didn't want to pay to de-restrict it then get it restricted again to sell it so its time was up. Hopefully I can sell it okay. Confused

Yes the pipes will be dealt with quickly on the new bike. If you've seen the state of the pipes on my Planet you'll understand my paranoia. Rolling Eyes

Drag racing hmmm? Not sure - maybe I will! I think I would probably stall off the line!

Laughing

Cheers for advice etc., hopefully the bank will let me drain my account, and when the bike arrives today it isn't a heap of shite!

Get it insured now! Any insurance company will allow you a week to get proof of your NCB, I got 2 months!
Do it, you know you wanna!
And congrats mate, looks like a nice bike Very Happy

It's only a few days. I'm just going to wait till thursday. Very Happy

I'm actually getting some decent quotes now!

Telebikes = £377 excess £350. Legal cover extra £18 but then I get free breakdown cover with it for a year including puncture repair and out of fuel rescue - both situations I am familiar with! Wink

Got the bike now! Very Happy

It's in pretty good nick for the age and miles on it. A few bits of rust but hopefully I'll take care of it soon.

About the first riding that I'm going to do on it is a Ridesafe course next week with the Met police! Cool

Cool bike m8, I've just bought one, a '96er in green for £1400, but mine has a ss system and braided hoses. I'm still waiting for the cheque to clear so I havent got it yet. Doesnt really matter tho cos I haven't got my test till the 14th. Gonna keep it in work till I get my anchor fitted.

I'm storing my bike at work at the moment. It's really frustrating rolling up to it on the 125 and seeing my nice big bike!

Roll on friday then I get insurance and go riding with the cops! Cool

What's the ss system?

Tis a Motad, and the braids are Goodridge. Quite pleased because they were two things I was going to do asap anyway, so it's saved me a bit of hassle. It just has a little (half-inch) dint in the fuel tank, otherwise it's a beaut. The guy just phoned to say he'll drop it off tomorrow, but I'm off all this week, taking the kids to wales for a few days so I won't even see it again till next Monday! Sad
