Ok i went clubbing in Newcastle for new years eve, and had some problems with the door staff:

About: Door Staff

Comment: After booking tickets online for your new years eve party, i took
5 friends up from essex to your nightclub. I bought the tickets from
Tick-it.com and checked the documents and your website regarding ages of
entry and dress codes, and made sure that everyone was over 18, bought ID
and was wearing smart clothing with shoes. On the door i was informed by
your doorstaff, that one of my party was being refused entry, due to him
wearing a short sleeved shirt and having a small tattoo showing on his
lower arm. Helpfully he suggested he go home and put something else on, but
i didnt fancy the 600 mile round trip for him to pick up another shirt.. I
explained to the doorman that we had come up from Essex, and that there was
no information on the website or tickets regarding this policy, but we were
basically shrugged off. Now I do admit that my party had a responsibility
to ensure they were suitably dressed. But i have never heard of a "no
tattoos" policy, in ANY nightclub i have been to UK or Worldwide. I do also
accept that you have the right to impose such a rule as a condition of
entry. My main complaint is that this information was not made available to
me when i booked tickets for new years eve. Had you had given me the
information either through tick-it.com or on your promotional website then
i would have ensured my party were all suitably dressed. The above incident
caused some embarressment to my friend, who was not a young troublemaker,
but in fact a 43 year old man! Luckily we was lent a jumper by a stranger i
have yet to thank and the night continued incident free. For what its worth
i had a very enjoyable new years eve! Would there be any chance of some
discounted entry/VIP tickets to make up for this incident? I promise to
make sure my party spend lots of money behind your bar... Thanks for your
time
Superstacker

I didnt expect anything back from them to be honest.....until i checked my inbox tonight:

Quote:
Hi Superstacker,

Many thanks for your feedback.
I apologise for the lack of clarity regarding visible tattoos on our door
policy.
We are actually not the only place in Newcastle that runs a no visible
tattoo policy on the door, and it actually being used more and more
throughout the city.
I understand that due to the lack of clarity of our door policy, you and
your party were caused some inconvenience on New Years Eve.
As a form of reconciliation, we would like to offer you free admission
passes for any Friday or Saturday of your choice.

Please send me your address along with the night you wish to re visit the
venue along with the number of people that will be attending, and your
passes will be sent out to you immediately.

Kind Regards

Helen Stafford
Sales Manager.

So im thinking Bargain! They havent specified a maximum number of people, so if the whole of BCF turned up early with me at the front with this hallowed pass Smile

BCF NIGHT OUT!!!!!

I can't be bothered to point out all of your spelling errors, but the one that struck me as amusing was where you said you "bought ID". Class.

If I were you I'd have turned down their offer of free passes. Travelling from Essex to Newcastle just to get into a club for free seems a bit pointless to me.

Nevermind. I'm glad you 'was' given a jumper for your mate to wear! Wink

Whilst a freebie's always nice, I'd have to agree with Suzuki, the clubs around here are always giving away free "VIP" tickets which gives free entry and a bottle of something fizzy that's supposed to be champagne.

All the 'cool' people stop going to clubs in preference of swanky bars where you can actually talk to people rather than just shout in their faces, spitting your drink on them in the process, and hoping that your sexy moves are good enough to woo them into your bed.

Much rather have a nice drink in a nice bar with nice music and nice people, than have to jossle about in a club with a bunch of people I really don't want to be in such close proximity to.

Plus, I think dance music is rubbish, and clubs are really only there as a meat-market.

I just kind of assumed you copied and pasted your original email into BCF. That would be logical.

Are you serious when you say you re-typed it for BCF? Laughing

You did see the bit where they said "tell us how many people will be in your party, and on what date, and we'll send you the tickets" didn't you?

If you say "There'll be 124 of us" they'll say "no there wont, here's 5 tickets".

Dam Newcastle must be up market Laughing

In Norwich they won't even let you in any clubs unless you have over five tattoo's! women can get away with just three, but only if one of them is visible on their breast. Its a classy place like. Smile

Got to be honest but I've known that clubs have had a No Visable Tattoo policy for years, which is why I've now got to buy a shite load of long sleeve shirts to hide my sleeve.....

I've never had any problems and I always just wear t-shirts, although I try and stay away from the the real main stream clubs and stick to seedy back street bars anyway.
