Gloves tucked in jacket or not?

Just wondering whether anyone tucks there gloves into there jacket?

In theory if its raining it would stop rain running down into my gloves but I dont know...

Overall it seems a more sealed unit with them tucked in as my jacket arms zip up and there is a button there... but I am not sure what would happen when driving normally in the rain... plus I am worried that wind chill will run up my arms with them tucked in..

As you can guess I dont currently drive a bike... but I will be soon hopefully after I pass my test next week.

It makes it easier for the strand of Wool if you tuck them inside the jacket and you don't lose them if you do it that way either.....

when i was racing minimoto my gloves allways went over the 1pc suit, but with my jacket i have them under.

gloves over leather jacket and under waterproof jacket, thats only because i cant be bothered fiddling around with them, it works tho my hands stay dry.

I keep my gloves over all the time.

I'm luck because the inside of has an elasticated band thats tight around your wrist, so it makes the hand compartment in the glove water tight.

iv got the yamaha r1 leather jacket with the button and the zip, i always have my gloves under my jacket come rain or shine. word of warning too dont wear a watch with a metal strap thingy under your gloves and jacket... bastard thing pinches ya while riding LOL

Same as NSR-AD.
and incase you missed it; I only use summer gloves, so they fit nicely into the jacket sleeves.
90% of the time I even ride with the sleeves undone too. Allows just enough air to flow to keep my arms getting too uncomfortable...

I ride with summer gloves, so its under the jacket. Which is fine for city riding and most A-Roads. My arms get very cold unless i have many layers on motorway stints...

in summer i have them tucked in so the wind goes up my jacket sleeves and keeps me cool , in winter i have my jacket tooked into my gloves so no wind gets up my sleeves

I assumed having them tucked under my textile jacket would be better...

I know its probably like stating the obvious guys but as they are gauntlet style they look like they should have gone outside.

Picked up myself a set of inner gloves yesterday to, so hopefully will keep my hands warm for longer.

I use a pair of Alpinestar Summer Gloves, the SMX.....Although they are now shagged and a pair of Two Quid stretch gloves from out of the Newsagents.....Never fail.....

Always under my jacket as the Techno armour is laminated to the leather almost right down to the wrist. If I put the gloves over the top the jacket tries to push them off and it also makes the top of the gloves really wide. I've also climbed/snowboarded/mountaineered for quite a while and always worn my gloves under a Gortex jacket, as you say it keep the rain from running in.

It depends on the weather. If it's raining or I know it's about to, I'll wear the gloves inside the jacket (the rain does run down inside, yuk). Otherwise, they get worn outside.

I always wear my gloves over my jacket - never had a problem with the rain running in.

Just easier, that and it keeps the wind out.

with my lobster gloves, I tend to wear the cuffs under my jacket sleeves to stop rain running down inside, which would make their wind/rain resistant properties... erm void.

I tend to keep my sporty summer gloves outside my jacket sleeve however, as that way the armour on the glove cuffs does it job, and also stops my rather expensive jacket getting mauled in an off... well, the cuffs at least, as I find thats the part of the jacket that hits the road first in an off (would be a shame to ruin your jacket that way in a minor fall).

There are reasons for and against both over and under the cuff.

In an accident, having the glove over the cuff may prevent the jacket from sliding up your arm.

However, in wet weather, having the glove over your cuff can let rain run down your arm in to your glove.

Putting your glove inside your cuff means that rain can be forced up inside the sleeve off the glove - and when you go to wipe your visor the same can happen.

Some gloves have two cuffs - one to go over, the other to go under. This helps to prevent rain running up your sleeve and also down in to your glove.

My jacket has an inner Gore-tex cuff that has much the same effect.

Depends on the jacket / gloves. Ones I have at the moment work well with the jacket over the gloves.
