On the past couple of bikes I've had (Yam SR125 & Honda XR125) they had a locking device on the rear left side just under the seat that works with the ignition key.
I've always ignored it really but it's been bothering me more and more lately. What is it for!? Seems too small to in any way to lock a helmet on the bike, or fit any cable locks onto it.

Any ideas welcome! Question

It is, in fact a helmet lock. The pin is supposed to go through the "D" ring. Do not use it however as some little wags think it is fun to cut off the chin strap of your lid.

I would never lock my helmet to my bike like that anyway, it'd get wet inside!! lol
However, what part of the helmet is the "D" ring? Surely not just the chin strap as that could just be undone?

Ah gotcha. But that's a bit daft isn't it, still making bikes with these locks on 'em when helmets are rarely locked onto them anymore. They'd be far better sticking a permanent wheel lock on or something for extra security!
