Just got the renewal notice from Devitt for the divvy:

Insurance: 99.75
Legal Cover:20.00
So far so good,
Renewal fee 9.00.... WTF?

"We will charge you £9 for the privalige of spending your money with us"

Needless to say new quotes where soon sorted and the best yet is 75.92.
Piss taking bastards.

I've never found it pays to stick with an insurance company. Every year i find better prices with a new company.

FFS, my insurance has a zero on the end of your figures and thats through Dodgy R Us insurance that i work for!

TBH this may sound like a sales pitch but premium isn't the be all and end all of insurance. What difference would that £9 make if you made a claim that was dealt with on time and by the book? If you moved insurers to save £20 and find that it takes 9 months to sort out a simple claim or to get a covernote or certificate after the inception date you will be a bit miffed.

The renewal fee will be to cover the brokers costs as i would assume they would be on anything from 5-20% commission which out of £100 premium is nothing for the work they put in, such as remarketing the risk to their panel of insurers etc.

Unless you have had poor service from the broker/insurer id be very much inclined to stay with them at renewal.
