Posted: 14:03 - 05 Aug 2003 Post subject: Do i need new front pads? |
 |
|
I put a new front brake lever on cause the other one was bent, and i can pull the lever almost all the way in to the throttle grip apart from about 2mm.
When i'm riding, if i go to stop i pull it in and it sort of goes half in then snags, the front end goes down and back up then its alright.
My scooter used to do it, and i think that was the pads cause i had done 22k without a change.
Anyone agree with changing the pads? ill check the brake fluid in a minute.
I sprayed some grease down the clutch cable and WD40 around the lever bracket and bolt.
Its becoming easier to ride, apart from slowing for a junction and then accelerating away i always get wrong gear and its like chugging and not accelerating, then i nearly get mowed down by the car i had just cut up behind me oops!
Good fun AND ITS STARTING TO RAIN |

How do i bleed my front brake?
I don't want to end up in a accident like when i disturbed the brake on my scooter but if its simple enough it will okay.

22k without changing pads on a bike
wow, you must have a v-twin ped that had loads of engine braking and you didnt need to use your brakes |

was a speedfight indeed.
14 months, 22k scrapper lol , 8 crashes , bent frame, knackered fairings.
The brake still was useable at 22k, but the rear cable broke at 18k.

So bleeding brakes i take it is removing the resorvoir fluid cover and squeezing the brake until it stiffens up?

okay.
I didnt touch anything, just took the bolt out the old break lever and put on another one.
The clutch is loads better thanks to the half a can of WD40 i coated the lever end and bolt and the inside of the cable in , was supposed to use light oil but oh well.
The brake is better i just dont like the way it only goes half the way in , then snaps on if you pull it any further, im getting used to having a back brake by my foot aswell
Im such a divvy, i ragged it down the road and was doign about 70 and pulled over cause my arse was aching not being used to it. Then when i started it i swore it was louder lol silly me.
Then i thought the back tyre was the wrong size for the rim
on the swingarm it says " REAR 130/70-18, and recommend tyre is either a dunlop K175 or mezeler or pirelli.
Well on the rear is a Dunlop K82, with the letters and number 3/50-18 on it. Its rather skinny compared to my other NSR, this is a italian import, says under the seat NSR125RM
any ideas or am i just doing the typical fault finding of having a new bike |
