I've only ever had one MOT failure on any of my vehicles, but that's usually because I've just let the garage do any work necessary. I do think that some of them say things need replacing (when perhaps they aren't quite down to the limit yet and could last a few months more), just to get the work.
I have only once refused to let a garage fix my car up after failing its MOT. It worked out far cheaper just to drive it to another MOT station and have it retested, where it passed with flying colours (I was told it was in great condition for its mileage). Of course, if it's something particularly serious, check it out yourself as well before having it retested.
I now use an MOT station locally where you only pay if you pass the test. They have no incentive to fail you! ____________________ Current bike: Kawasaki Z750S |
