Unlikely, a much better idea would be to get something like a DT125, KMX 125 or (if you want a 4 stroke) DR125 second hand.
Not only should it cost you less and go faster, but they're also more likely to stay in one piece for more than an hour's riding.

So far, the general consensus is that cheap chinese bikes aren't worth the hassle unless they are /very/ cheap and you're happy to fiddle.
That one is far from cheap.

Erm, the comet, in my opinion, is seriously over priced for what you get.

Most bikes they try and make as light as possible; the comet they seem to have done the opposite, then charged you extra for it.

The trail style bikes I mentioned above can all be got from about £500 second hand.

the cost of doing that would be quite high though, i could probably just buy a nice (new yamaha, KTM ect) 125 for the price.

Depends what you're looking for out of a bike, you aren't going to get it all in most cases.

The hysoung supermoto might be worth a look, but they're a 4 stroke.

For the record, a new KTM would be a lot more hassle as it's servicing is a lot worse, being a competition enduro bike.

i just got a rieju (spanish) 4t trailie 125 (£600 on an 04)
dont buy a 4t 125, its not worth it, they're too slow
i have had a moped that was a lot faster than this bike
there's just no pleasure to riding it, which surprisingly there was with my old moped (85mph at 12000rpm!)

Im struggling to chose here... 1 option is to just get a beater and do the test really quick, or i could get a decent bike to last through uni (im a first year)

Money wise, id rather get an OK 125 and keep it for 2 years.
i want something that can do 70 all day and slight off-road ability. (fire-roads) No more than about 1500 used or new.
i really cant find anything >.< i was dead set on the himo until the build quality was bought to my attention. Sad

i know what you mean
i was a bit concerned that my rieju wont be fast enough to meet the test requirements (ie. 62+mph)
but it will JUST scrape it
it seems ridiculous that i can take my test on this bike but not on an rxs100 or similar, which WILL do 70mph all day long (i've had 2)

in fact, if this bike has got 12hp(edit) i'm a banana, and the engine is made by yamaha (and bears their name)
so i would think a hyosung would be worse if anything

also the bloke four doors away has a hyosung dirt pro (maybe similar to the supermoto) and he spends more time with the headlight off messing with the wiring than he does riding it

a friend of mine has a hyosung comet 125, he isnt using it so i could borrow/rent it for a few months til i can do the test the get a "propper" bike.... i think that'd be the best option, my ambitions are a bit bigger than 14.6bhp
