Cool, I'd quite fancy one of those for dropping engines, forks and swingarms. Dont have a spare £47 or the space though

Those stands only really work if the frame rails are the lowest point of the bike - i.e. a cruiser. They won't work on sports bikes etc. unless you can make up some sort of spacers.

IMO if you have something with fairings and you have the space you'd be better off spending the money on building a perement ramp or pit

You could quite easily make a full-length ramp from some lightweight angle-iron and a piece of plywood. I'm having one made from 12-gauge mild steel sheet. Ally checker-plate would be better but it's a couple of hundred quid for a full sheet I think.

Local sheet metals place quoted me about £100 or so for the std 8x4 sheet of cheq. plating, but I know them really well so normal price is prolly like £150? Not that you'd even need a full sheet though!

Was that Ally or steel, what thickness and how long ago? Metal prices have skyrocketed recently. I can get sheet metal at cost too if I can get a half-sheet of 3mm ally for under £100 I'd go for that.

Guy on eBay is selling 2m x 1m sheets of ally checkerplate for £75, so I'm gonna buy one of them and make two, one for me and one for my mate who bought the same lift. I really need the bike to be lifted higher since I spend hours bent over working on the damn thing sometimes. I think this has about 480mm lift from memory.

TBH personally I'd check out your local price before buying that stuff off ebay. Also local place could cut it to size meaning no waste
