i am thinkin of changin to a ducati, but if one more person tells me they are unreliable i might start to belive it,
if this is the case why do people buy them,
if someone made a boat that almost floated they would soon be out of business, do I buy one give me 3 good reasons .

What bike do you have at the moment?

I have heard of people over on VD having regular problems with their 749s but I'm sure there are as many people whose bikes have been faultless.

I've heard nothing but goodness about Duke's...

Search Klause's posts on here, he makes big servicing look easy on his Monster.

the only bike i have seen broken down at my local bike meet when everyone else is heading off home, was a ducati

possibly a 749, im not sure

do not be tempted to use panniers on the back of a single seat sportsbike ducati while touring scotland as the rear sub frame may break

logically, it would be up to you decide, evaluate the pro's and cons, and see if your still considering it, then pop to the showroom and have a look, research on net etc,,

there are endless ways of answering your question, but knock yourself out, and be sensible on it, don't end up like some of the tits on here, oh, and avoid the 2007 BCF spill counter.... Rolling Eyes

thanks for the link

i dont think they are any more expensive to buy,

it is the fact they the average biker tends to look down on the owners of ducati as if they were just playing at the bike game.
it seems that ducati owners have more than one bike and dont use the ducati as there first bike ,
I would want to ride it,
it seems like they dont ride them to much incase they break,

Review of 749

Quote:
I admit I’ve never been a fan of big, high performance race rep twins – in fact Ducati is convinced I have something against them – but this baby 999 has come close to converting me. For a start, I liked the matt black finish, which contrasted well with the standard chrome fork legs and the big white dash, plus I’ve always thought black is the only colour that suits the unusual look of the 21st century Ducati’s front end.

I actually had a ball riding back through Glencoe with the summer rain pissing down. The suspension seemed to be set quite soft which complemented the Pirelli Diablos, so I just rode and rode. There was a fair bit of standing water, but the handling was sweet apart from a few front aquaplane twitches. We’ve experienced the odd misfire or electrical gremlin from Ducatis in previous wet tests, but this time the Ducati never missed a beat in some really extreme weather.

Soft power from the free-revving engine let me open the throttle early and longer, which all adds to the feel of being the boss in the rider/bike relationship. The light handling doesn’t wear you down, but I had to get used to the pin sharp brakes. I found it easy to miss gears if I wasn’t super positive while shifting, especially while accelerating hard through the box.

Like the GSX-R750, I now think the 749 is a more enjoyable and useable package than its bigger sibling. After a few hours of riding, my knees started to cramp, so I wouldn’t like to do huge trips on a regular basis, but then not everyone has mangled knees like me.
The day after our test was complete, I had to choose a bike for my Knockhill Riding School. I picked the 749 and it rocked.

Thumbs Up Softish motor (compared to its bigger brother) means you can make more use of it. Super-sharp brakes and looks that are complimented by the black bodywork complete the package

Thumbs Down Gear lever needs a good boot to make sure it’s a positive change. Not the most comfy bike out there – or in this test. Looks still causing concern among some hard-core Ducatisti

PERFORMANCE Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

RIDE Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

BUILD QUALITY Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

OVERALL Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

VERDICT
Yes, less really is more. Less motor, less (harsh) suspension with less colour for less money equals a Ducati four-valve supersport bike which is, quite simply, more super than a 999

Last ducati i heard of going was a 748 that dropped a valve and lunched the motor. The newer ones tend to be much better though. A Full Ducati Service History is a must though.
