Pulling out of a car park yesterday, the driver in front decided he would rather turn right than left (not indicating at all mind you) and decided to do this by reversing through my bike. The ZZR's in the shop having the damage assessed, wth luck it'll just be the plastics and it'll be settled with cash. if not then it'll be an insurance job...

Yeah.. Smile

I was stationary, clutch in, front brake on, both feet down.. Smile

the garage asked about the other marks on the bike (scratched exhaust, crank case cover, mirror, pock mark on fairing) and wanted to know if I wanted that on the report. But as the bike didn't fall over onto it's side then it's not claimable.. Smile

The first thing the garage asked was "are you alright then?" Which was nice. genuine concern for the rider, not the bike.

Still got to chase up for the cash, will do later on once I have the paperwork.

the cynical amongst you might be thinking, "you should've gently dropped it anyway to get that damage repaired..." - shame on you.. Smile

£140+ quid for the replacement fender and work/inspection etc. All nicely paid for in used tens and twenties.

Just need to get it booked in for the work Smile

Yep as it'll take a few days to get the bits in and the garage is quite a busy/popular one. It's only half hours worth of work but as the taxi driver paid for it then why get my hands dirty? Smile

Had exactly the same situation about 2 months ago, got a bandit 6 and some prick in a van stopped, put in reverse and drove into me, I was so shocked he did it as I beeped my horn as he was reversing. I will give you three guesses what he said when he got out!

Mad

Did the driver give you the money or did you go through insurance?

Rather than risking his insurance going up through the roof (or possably his taxi licence for not providing details) He paid in cash. Had the audacity to quibble over the cost of the MUDGUARD (Smile ) but I said he could phone Kawazaki if he liked. Smile

Technically it's called a Fender, too damn american for my taste.. Smile Though a left handed Fender would be nice, maybe I could strap it to the front, it'll keep the water where it should be and I could always play a tune on it if I stop and am bored... Then again, the aerodynamics would be a bit shit.. Smile

*considered an 'aero-smith-dynamics being good' joke but decides against it*

If its not too badly broken/split could keep the old one case your ever in need of a spare if it happens again/worse. Bit of hassle but you gain a new fender.

Nahh, the front is snapped and the mountings are all cracked so I could superglue it back together but really it's more hassle than it's worth...

Well, got the ZZR back from the shop all fully fitted and looking fine. I Pull out of the petrol station and some dozy Bint in a Citroen Picarsole pulls onto the roundabout without stopping, forcing me to a halt and not even acknowledging me as I'm sat stationary 2 feet from her with the horn blaring. No she's far too busy yabbering away on the phone to drive properly. Sad

Still, back home in one piece though smelling slightly of cat wee (but that's another story....) Smile.
