Thread search this mate, there will be no cheap insurance company for everyone.

Insurance companies are all looking for different types of driver/rider and what is cheap for me with one company, may well be expensive for you with the same...

bare with that i am a bit drunk....hopefully made sense.

I must admit that this thread comes around far too often.

Most insurance companies on the net give online quotations or fill out a form and get one emailed.

Google is a good start as is the back of any car or bike magazine, just look for yourself.

A friend of mine went on the net and got a quote from Hastings Direct. He then phoned them up and when asked what his lowest quote had been , he said the figure they had quoted on-line but didn't mention it was from themselves. They then turned round and said that they would beat that offer. You've got to hand it to the cheeky blighter. It just goes to show that they make the figures up, and if your willing to accept their valuation of cover, so be it.
Another tip is go to moneysupermarket.com and select the relevant tab for insurance. I did this recently to enquire about insuring my car, and i will be saving at least £70 this year. With this site also you get one form to fill out and the leg work is done for you. This site is better than Confused.com
And remember, give them a call and really hammer them on price. If they want your business, they'll compromise on the price.

GOOD LUCK MATE. Thumbs Up Laughing

I hate how all these sites can do a One Search for you, where you put all your details in and they search all insurers you.

why do they only do that for cars!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's pretty much irrelevant who some random person off BCF got their insurance from as unless they're very similar to you then they won't be the cheapest for you.

You want to read the insurance thread in the new bikers forum, it tells you what to do to get your insurance as cheap as possible.

Hi can you comment on this, as I have 2 bikes insured with them fully comp.

Whats the problem with them, my renewal is up soon.

If people have had problems, I want to know.

The one thing that I find strange is that they include break down cover, but you don't get a card with a phone number on to call em. Its hidden in their documentation.

Kawakid, see this thread to see the story on why i would reccomend against them. Apparently they do include legal cover in their policy also...but i never saw or was told about this when i phoned up trying to claim.
Sure they are cheap, thats all fine and well if you are sure your not going to have an accident Thumbs Down

Hmm, I do have legal cover, but yeah its a grey area. I know a biker who had to jump off his bike to avoid an accident, bike was written off. If he'd have stayed on he'd have been in big trouble.

I think Carole Nash do multi bike policies, i'll check them out as well.

I know other people have slated Hastings.

Why not go to any one of the hundreds of no-win-no-fee solicitors, its not as if there's a shortage of them?

I'm assuming you don't have fully comp insurance so its not really much suprise that they're not interested in you needing to claim from someone else. Was it a solicitor you spoke to or just 'someone' in a call centre?

If it was less than three years ago then you could still claim...

As i said before it was not my grouch that they werent too keen to process the claim and they point blank said it was impossible to claim. It was that they were completely unhelpful and damn right fucking useless, and tried to get rid of me as quick as possible.

As a matter of fact i got my renewal email from them today and they can shove it up their arse, i'd rather pay more off another company to get some fucking service.

Since you havent said what bike you ride, how old you are, where you live or how many years NCB etc. you have you arent really doing anyone any favours. I pay £200ish a year on a GPz 750 at 19 as a student with motorcycle direct. Motorcycle direct are pretty good in my experience. Thumbs Up

I tired all the above, even E bike didn't want to know.

A quote found me the cheapest, though they wern't keen on giving me money off. Started off at £1600 with others, £1100 with them.. got it down to £764 after ringing them back and being persistent.

This year my renewal was £300, so I rang them and it went down to £200.. I rang soemwhere else that offered £180, I rang them back .. and they dropped to £146... with break down (elite)

google them.

Think their number is free so nothing to lose?

I've been with Carole Nash for over 8 years and do not intend on changing. I have a mate, same age with similar bike, who is with another company who quoted me £100 less than CN but they didn't give the same quality of service.

Carole Nash include breakdown recovery in both the UK and Europe and legal coverage. These two items alone make the policy worth while. I have used the recovery twice in this time and the service was great. Thumbs Up Luckily, I have not needed any other of their services!

As with all decisions, it is up to the individual. If you cannot afford a more expensive solution get one that you can afford... but go for the best that you can afford - always read the small print 'cause whinging about it afterwards does not get you compensation!

99% of the time you will not need the services of an insurance company... that 1% when you do, you need to know that they are going to deliver Exclamation

A friend of mine has had to claim off his eBike insurance, and he says it's been easy. The 'bike was collected by BMW, taken away, repaired and returned with no hassle.

He was knocked off by an uninsured cyclist, who was cycling across a ped. crossing, against the red man. The cyclist was judged 100% to blame, and both my friend and eBike are currently persuing the cyclist in the civil courts.

As far as I can tell it's been a first class service from eBike.

Although I don't think they include "riding other 'bikes" cover - check the small print.

Small point: Carole Nash are not an insurance company - they're a broker. But you're right that their service is OK (although you have to watch their renewal quotes - they tried to half my cover, double my excess and claim it was a "better deal". A quick phone call and I'd cut the premium, cut the excess, and restored the lever of cover).

Yes, they give you "free" breakdown insurance too, which is worth having and needs to be taken in to account when getting quotations from other brokers / insurers.

Well put - in a lot of cases you get what you pay for, and cheap <> good. Check your policy document and schedule for what you get for your money - and it really does pay to shop around.

Exclamation

Seeing as you've been with them for 8 year.. I'm assuming you've never tried to get NCB off them then...

My £146 policy comes with 90 days EU cover as well as break down and crash recovery (different to break down recovery)
at 19 on a 500 in the scum hole that is coventry I thought it was good,
CN wanted £860 so they could go fish, that's more than I paid the year before
