for my FJR, and they are bloody good.

Some regular LED stop/tails don't have a great distinction between brake and regular light, whereas these are as good as the usual tungsten filament.

Some bikes have LEDs as standard at the rear - well, SV suzukis for one.
Seemed bright enough to me - eventually headlights will be LED too I suspect.

Do you mean use or effect? ,

ie they are pointless if the loony behind you is too busy looking into his phone than the road,

I;ve gotten a recent habit if I am last in the queue at lights or at the front and nobody has stopped behind me I pump the front brake , to make the rear flash on an off , since people notice it more , since human eyes are attenuated to see movement.

nope... they look like tail lights.

The only real benefits they offer are faster response time, and no filaments to break so they last longer.

Having followed Feef for miles, I can agree that they look like normal bulbs from behind, but have the tell-tale LED "instant" reaction.

The Philips Vision+ bulbs are very good. I've got them in the Fazer (which is known for having crap headlights) and they do make a difference.

There are other bulbs out there which are of a higher wattage than standard - often labeled as "rally" bulbs. They're too bright for road use, and being higher wattage might strain your electrics or melt your headlight unit.

Incidentally, HID lights do have a filament of sorts...

I will definitely be upgrading the front bulb to the Philips one I posted above.

And I think I will upgrade the rears to LEDS. Some mentioned that in bright sun its difficult to see the rear lights if you have LEDs is there any truth in this?

I got the Ultra Brilliant headlight from Halfords, £14.99 but currently BOGOF!

Seem pretty good to me, usual 50% brighter yada yada yada. Some may argue Phillips version is better, or Osram, in truth I expect they all rock out of the same factory anyway prior to being branded!
