Ahh shit... What's the worst case scenario now?

Back when I was a learner I got pulled on my RS125 for no L plate... it had snapped off of it's own accord, and I knew about it, I just left it... left it long enough for the snap to become dirty so the officer knew it wasn't fresh.

I got an endorsable penalty notice so that's a fine and 3 points (Just as soon as I pay the fine)...

I have yet to pay the fine. It's probably gone up now.

Also, I believe I have an NIP for 45 in a 30 by a mobile van, I have yet to see the details, but I assume that will be another 3 points as soon as I pay the fine.

So, that's 6 points waiting for me right there... I assume that means my licesne will be revoked... Will I be able to take my test again and keep riding? Will I have to wait for the points to clear before I can ride again?

Is it worth challenging the van ticket? (Can they prove it was me riding etc), and if not... should I just avoid paying these fines for as long as possible and continue riding while my license is (technically) still clean because paying the fines will just help it get revoked sooner.

you'll get away with just the fine and points ,

ie you won't get banned , or licence revoked , as 3 points were before you got you licence , and thus no considered other than for 12 point banning,

and 3 points after you get the licence

= get 3 more points = licence is revoked under the new drivers act take test + theory again,

there was a similar story in the MEN recently where learners had 9 points before they passed their test , but since they hadn't totted up 6 points after the test they kept their licences

Good to hear Itchy... going to give the DVLA a ring to confirm that and if that's the case.. happy days. Need to be more vigalant though, maybe get one of those warning things, although I imagine they aren't too useful with vans, unless there are database of known van hotspots.

I just spoke to a woman at the DVLA, apparently they will all count and my license will be revoked, and from there i'll need to re-apply for a provisional, re-do my theory, and resit my test. But after that it reverts to a 12 point limit... I forgot to ask if the first 6 will still be there or if it's a fresh start...

Either way, fuck that, i'd rather just wait this one out and let my fines accumilate and keep riding for as long as possible. Can't be arsed fannying about going through the motions again, especially since I don't have a 125 anymore.

That mobile van better have a pretty solid picture of me, could have been anyone riding at the time Rolling Eyes

Im pretty sure if you have 6 points then thats all your tests you have to do again. Including your car test if you have done one in the last 2 years. If you passed your first test 2 years ago then you are in the clear.

Plus if you ride around when your licence is revoked then you will not be insured...

Indeed seems to be the case, but as it stands my license is not revoked, there are currently no points on my license... just points due to go on as soon as I pay fines. And the van one isn't definate yet.

My mate had 9 points on a provisional license, then got pissed, drove, crashed, got caught, lost his license for DD for 3 yrs. He has no got a full license with absolutly no points on it. But of course he has DD on it now so that is worse!

But if you think about it, it would be stupid for the points to carry across if you accumilate 12 points and lose your license. as they would still be there when you get it back and then you would lose it again.
