Calling all Bandit 600 Owners

Right I would like to get a comparison of Bandit 600s and the best you can get out of it with mods, so can you list the mods you have its age and the top speed you Bandit 6 does!

Reason for this is I want to get the most out of my bike!

So here goes;

W reg 600(faired) - Topspeed 145Mph

I have road legal race can(with baffler in), lighter downpipes(3.6kg) and other fairing upgrades(not really imortant)

I rekon 145mph is lies.

Claimed Suzuki top speed is 130mph. Which I suspect may be speedo error on your part.

I've seen 130mph indicated. But then my engine is held on by 2 fewer engine mounts than it should be.

I have aftermarket downpipes, race can but I've done no mods to make it go faster.

I keep meaning to take it to a run-what-you-brung day.

Well I am not telling porkies. Thats what the speedo said! Maybe it is the speedo reading incorrectly or we should do a test and meet some place and race the two bandits and get a reading that way!

Will be doing a straigh tliner race in the summer. My mate knows a track where its like 25 quid for the day! I will have to get the details soonish!

Run what you brung, you go to santa pod or similar. They set up all the timing lights/whatever.

And you rag your bike up there as fast as you can.

You run the bike that you brung...

It's about £25, sounds like that's what your mate knows.

Yeah but I suspect it's longer than that, since you need space to slow down again.

Top speed indicated seen on a private road... 137 MPH

My old naked 6, with a stubbly viper can, and messed about gearing would pull about 125 indicated.

Which side by side with a faired 650 was 141. Go figure that one out!

Speedo's lie, and a "race" can won't make your bike do an extra 15 mph.

Why is it that these speedos are so inaccurate then? Its quite annoying really. Are the digital ones more accurate?

Do they read the speed off of the front wheel. Is that right?

Also I did not say the race can would make it go 15mph faster!

Nope, I think they read off the gearbox if I am thinking correctly?

Realistically i'd say speedo's are about 10% out so my 137mph is probably 123mph.

Mine's front wheel driven.

And speedos just are innacurate. They're by law not allowed to overread more than 10% and they're not allowed to underread at all.

I have had 125 Indicated out of my 1996 600N Bandit (Which as of now is completely standard), thats on a flat road, had it closer to 135 with a nice long down hill run, (on private roads obviously...)

Reminds me...

The local garage has a red N-Reg naked Bandit 600 with 12.7k on the clock that has had tonnes of work done on it. Tail tidy, replacement lights, renthal Bars, chrome covers on engine components, new indicators etc. The nicest looking bandit I've ever seen.

Still, me and the shop owner both agree though, It's a Bandit so is probably not worth the cost of all the replacement parts added...

Real labour of love though, someone's put a lot of effort into it..
