It's being sold for £1495 and it's a 1997 black and silver CBR600F.

Here's the description

Quote:
1997 R Reg HONDA CBR600 FV 600cc

ALL KEYS AND PAPERWORK SUPPLIED, CASH EITHER WAY, CREDIT OR DEBIT CARDS WELCOME, DELIVERY ANYWHERE FOR A FEE, FOR A VIEWING PLEASE CALL US, Garaged, GO TO WWW CLASSICRICEBURNERS CO UK, HPI CHECKED, PART EXCHANGE WELCOME, PRICED TO SELL, SMALL DEPOSIT SECURES, UK BIKE, WARRANTY, WILL HOLD ON SMALL DEPOSIT, Alarm, Immobiliser. FITTED WITH SCORPION EXHAUST, GOOD TYRES, TAXED TO THE END OF SEPTEMBER 2007, NEW MIRRORS SUPPLIED WITH BIKE, FIRST TO SEE WILL PROBABLY BUY. £1,495.

I've seen the pictrues and it looks immaculate. No scratches/dents anything. And it's only 24 miles away form me which is even better. Any thoughts/hints/pointers on this bike?

Is the mileage too high? I jut want to know what could go wrong really. Been looking for awhile and hopefully I'll have another £1050 added to my CBR fund soon so I could afford it.

Not too sure. Spares I suppose. The mirros on the pictures are atatched and nothings broken.

EDIT: Checked and it has no wing mirrors. So I guess I have to fit them on.

Hey I'd definitely ask about the mirrors.

I'm looking for a CBR600F too (Always wanted one) but I'm looking at getting one for about £2,200/2,500 dealer finance.

On the subject of the mirrors its possible that the guy who owns it has to take it down an alley or similar for storage, I had to do the same on my cbr and the number of knocks it took on the gatepost just scuffed them.

Either that or the previous owner was to braod to see eff all in them so just got shot. There would be a few more indicators to show that the bike had seen the deck than just the mirrors!! Wink

Mileage isn't too high at all, seem like strong engines. However...for maybe £100-200 more you could get a G1/G2/J1 ninja. Much better bike in my book (just for possible mpg). Yet to test ride a CBR but have no desire to really.

The mileage shouldn't be a problem if it has been looked after and serviced. There are a few quick things you can do on the spot without a test ride in the first instance. A quick check of the bar ends to see if it's been on the floor, either too new looking or scuffed and loose. I'd want to know if it's got any service history too. Check the brakes and suspension, pads are cheap but disks aren't and will be a big chunk of cash on a £1500 bike, similarly so with the shocks. If you are confident enough for a quick test, sit on the bike and roll the bike forward then apply the front brake, it should be a nice firm feel and stop the bike with a bounce on the forks, do a few until you are satisfied. Keep the brake on full and push the weight forward onto the forks, this is also a good way for checking for leaky fork seals. Also have a bounce on the seat to see how the rear shock reacts. Start the engine, should be from cold and no blue smoke when it's warmed up. A bit of a harder one and not something to do if you aren't confident but lift the front wheel on the sidestand and check the headstock bearings. The bars should move freely, no notchiness or looseness. While the front is in the air spin the front wheel to check for warped disks. As I said though only mess with the sidestand checks if you are confident enough, you don't want to go dropping it. CBR's a notorious for Cam Chain rattle, listen out for a rattle towards the front top 3rd of the engine. A dodgy Cam Chain isn't the end of the world and is fairly cheap to get sorted, any other engine noise could spell problems.

It's worth taking the time to give it a good check over especially if your Grandad is giving you some cash towards it. It might seem ott or make you feel awkward but it could save you a lot of hassle in the future. If they aren't keen on you giving it a good going over ask yourself what they have to hide, even ask them for assistance, if it's genuine there should be no problem. If not walk away, there's plenty more fish in the sea as they say.

Good luck. Thumbs Up

The bike is from the a dealer in Greenford. just outside of london.

Toby: Don't be nicking my bike Very Happy

And thanks dainese. I'll write all you said down so I can check it when I go to see it. I shouldn't have a problem with them helping me considering they are a bike shop. And I'll hopefully be with my friend who knows more about bikes than I do.

Also, I'm not borrowing money form ym grandad. It's jsut he has put 1250 awya for me in premium bonds and I was wondering if I could use some of that. My mum said yes and I'll just have to talk to my grandad.

Thanks everyone.

Hopefully, this will be my future bike Very Happy Thumbs Up

I've only seen 2 bikes round my area. One in Milton Keyens and the one in Greenford.

All the other oens have been up North over 2 hours away.

and I have been looking since September...
Oh well.

There's 3 up on Ebay at the moment but they're all up north. York, Lancaster or staffordshire. Too far away Confused

thanks for the help though Thumbs Up

Confused I would personally say you need to widen your search area; I would go pretty much anywhwere in UK if the right bike came along.

I understand that you may not be able to quite go to the same extent but come on, Staffordshire isn't exactly very far from you..... Neutral

SB Thumbs Up

Iwas told it's 2 hours. MY mum can't drive and my dad is in Miami. I'd have to go by myself and tbh I'd be intimidated to go 2 hours away on my half broken 125 to see if it's the right bike or not.

North bikes are the best, You should travel up here! NORTH RULES!

On a different, serious note... I would only travel up to 80/100 miles for the right bike!!! Going a full couple hundred just seems a bit over the top... unless the distance i would have to travel was outweighed by an unbelievable price...

I got told by my friend Richard (who'd drive me up there) that it would take 3 hours and £80 worth of diese. And I'm not even sure I'd want to buy the bike. I'd need the money at hand if I decide to buy the bike when I go to see it.
