Pretty expensive?

My good lady and I were going to do our CBT's and tests (125cc) before the end of the decent weather but got the shock of my life today when I asked how much it cost. £90 for the CBT!! Then for a 5 day course £90 a day, £50 for the test and have to redo my theory although I did it two years ago for my car licence! Overall £450 they quoted. For direct access this is £600 due to having 2 days on a 500cc at £140 a day!!

Was it that expensive when you did yours or are these guys conning twats?

CBT price sounds about right (there are quite a few places charging more than that). The training (especially the restricted licence one) seems a tad expensive though.

Are you planning to do the training on consecutive days? Or will you have to fit it in with work etc?

£90 for a CBT is about right

£48 is the DSA test fee, no getting round that

£20 odd quid to do your theory again no getting round that. Just because you have a car one two years ago (they are only valid for two years anyway) means nothing to a bike license.

£90 a day for training and bike hire seems alright. Although I doubt you'll need 5 days of training? Confused

Many seem to be 3, with the CBT on the first, and the tests at the end of the third

Oh yeah, i did my cbt for £85, then my theory, then my test without any lessons passed third time. But i was riding around for 3000 miles on my cbt.

The CBT is about right, and if they can fit you in with the good weather then go for it.

Tin's correct about the other training. Maybe try to work out a deal for you both and for three days. Not sure how well you'll get on, but it's worth trying and 'phoning around. I honestly can't remember how much I paid for mine, but my test was included in the price and the hire of the bikes (though I got a bit knocked off becuase I had a day on my own bike).

My DAS was about £400 all in, but I did it in Aberdeen - prices vary hugely from place to place, London was well expensive which is partly why I decided to do it up north.

Seems like a lot of money on paper, but I didn't have a problem writing the cheque when I was standing there with pass certificate in hand Very Happy

£450 is exactly what i paid for the restricted lisence with a garunteed pass thing (un-needed Smile

) which would've given me another day's free training if i needed it-though that didn't include bike hire or re-test

For my restricted licence it cost me £350.

Breakdown of costs:
£60 - CBT
£20 - Theory
£270 - 3 Days training and test.

Well I just got a qoute for a test and it came back as £590

Which includes:

5 Days training
CBT and Full test
Hire of CBT bike and test Bike
and Insurance.

Was not sure about the price but I am sure I do not need 5 days training, considering I have been riding for 2 years +.

guaranteed pass will be that you can sit the test as many times as it takes without paying out more. Im sure there'd be a clause in there somewhere though.

My costs were roughly CBT £90, then i rode on CBT for 18 months.
Theory test. Two day DAS was £200 then test fee.

I just paid £43 for a clutch lever and a little pice of metal that pushes the fluid from clutch resivour into the system. £43 fucking quid! I had a go at the bloke in the shop and ive finally got a honda dealer to admit their spares prices take the piss!

the garunteed pass thing on mine (as found out by my unlucky mate) was just a single day free training-but that didn't include bike hire or cost of the re-test so it ended up costing him much more.

My CBT was £60, from a small local bike shop. But thats up north.

Then I had 9 lessons with the same company for £15 each (included use of bike and gear). Only other cost were the DSA fees for practical and theory tests.

I did my cbt when i got my scooter bout 10months ago, cost 80 quid. Went around on L's for about six months, did a geared cbt, £80, had 6hours of tuition at £15 an hour. £48 dsa fee and 18 to get it added to my licence (Rip off!!!!!!)
so that’s about £325 including my theory.
That included the use of the schools bike for lessons, test, and i had the bike over night to practice on before my test.
Oh and the two cups of tea :D
