Quick help needed

Hi all

Just finished painting exhaust and changing the 2 stroke oil

Now im changing the gearbox oil cause it hasnt been done for a few years.

Where is the drain plug? Is it that 12mm size hex bolt just below the gear shifter?

Ive got a small oil leak too, slightly annoyed but doesnt bother me as it doesnt leave huge patches on the floor if the bike is left stood.

There is all old oil residue around the stand and on the lower left panel, the oil is leaking from under the gearshift area.

Where is the oil drain plug is what i need to know, cant see any oil in the sight glass, even if its warm.

anyone know where it is?

Yup that is the drain bolt. The filler is on the opposite side above the level window.

Its a big bolt underneath the engine if ya not sure which bolt it is just loosen it slightly and see if you see any oil on it, if there is quickly get something underneath to catch that oil!

The "oil" residue around the stand and fairing is more likely to be from the chain rather than the engine.

Get a new washer before replacing the sump plug. This should stop the leaks.

but it doesnt point downwards thats why it confused me, ill have to get little brother to lean the bike and hopefully not drop it on me!

How much oil to i put in? from empty

All done. Got a nice ice cream tub full of jet black oil!

Then filled it up with silkolene stuff 800mil. can actually see it in the sight glass now, the new oil was a clear yellow colour.

I put castrol in the 2 stroke and tarted it up.

Now i just want to change the plug or something, because as i go above 7000 revs in 2nd and 3rd it splutters and hesitates slightly for second then the power jumps to 8000 and the power comes on harsh?

Is that the plug or the RC valve? If its the valve how do i clean it?

I cant locate the dam tickover screw from the side fairings, just a mass of wires.

Will have to take tank off Evil or Very Mad

Gears seem a lot smoother and don't clunk with this new oil in and running it on castrol instead of some very dark almost black stuff that was motul i think, it seems to run better.

anyone got a right hand lower fairing they want to sell? killed mine earlier Sad

hi, couldn't help but make the general observastion that if you remove the tank to get to the idle screw, how will you know how to adjust it if you aint got no petrol to run the engine, while you adjust the screw???

See. aren't you glad you posted that before you did it at home and then felt like a real tit?

And, maybe you juust need a tidy up under the tank as im sure i could adjust my idle from behind the fairing, or why not remove the fairing instead???

Just take the tank off on the older ones and just make sure you still have the hose's atached to it and running.
And really you should check the idle speed when the bike is warm,
so i guess ridding round with no fairings what so ever could come into play.

In which case its funny to see what people react like.

could always make you own mini tank out of a cola bottle if you can't sit with the tank, (on the old ones)

I know you can raise the tank and leave it attach (I got a NSR ya know!!!), its just that he said he was going to REMOVE the tank and so was just pointing that fact out to him!!!
