NC24,s have a bad rep, very poor eletrical system and over shadowed by the superior NC30 and NC35. don,t pay any more than £600 for one.

hold out for a 30 or a 35 , which have the tail pipe on the left , single sided arm and twin head lights ,

all the ones with single headlamps and pipe on the right are NC21s Nc24s etc though the NC29 CBR400 is worth a look in

It would have to be damn cheap, and expect some electrical problems.

Oh ok. I can't afford an unreliable bike. I've found an NC30. It's stretching my budget but I think it's worth it.

get yourself too www.400greybike.co.uk.
you can get cheap ones on their but your gonna find most of these bikes need work and you'll be very lucky if you get one with that sort of budget that doesnt. but once their running sweet they go on forever as their so well built.

their a 15 year old bike and still have a massive following, honda still manufacture parts them still. those that havent rid them always say "whats the point, when you can get a 600" but how many 600's can you constantly redline and deckout on 70% of the corners that you visit in the real world riding, Answer: not many..

a true racing classic!

LOL, up yours siggi Laughing .

I`ve got a 24, and i`ve had it for over 2 years now. Its starts first time, everytime. There is a supposed rectifier problem, but that effects vfr750`s as well. Gonna slate vfr 750`s as crap too?

The 24 is easier to service, a hell of a lot. Try doing an NC30 top end with a spanner and screwdriver. 24`s sound better too(180 degree firing order). The only reason`s i`d go for a 30 is the looks and bigger tyres.

There`s nothing wrong with them. IMO worst thing about owning a 24 is the tyre sizes.

I am from the UK, but my mum's a kiwi like yourself and wanted to come home, so we've been here two months now.

It is an incredible country! Smile

Perfect roads aswell. Just gotta find the perfect bike to match, and quickly!

i would look out for a inline four as apossed to a v4 (i used to have a vf400) and it was a complete bugger to work on, keep your eveys open for a cbr400 or a zx400 or some thing along those lines mabee a gsf400 or gsxr 400, but if you really like the v4 action then ..... go for your life, they are nice bikes to ride Thumbs Up

where are you based in nz. mabee i can recomend some good roads for ya Mr. Green

I did once have my heart set on a ZXR but TradeMe doesn't seem to have too much on offer, with my budget anyway and all the ZXRs and CBRs are too much for me. Sad

I am based in Feilding, nr. Palmerston North. There are some cracking roads going up to Taihape though any more you may know of wouldn't go amiss!

yep thats the 54 to vinegar hill Very Happy brilliant road i know it well (my old man lives in foxton beach)
another good one not far from you is the road to woodville from fielding, then just before dannevirk the back road to eketahuna, nearly nobody on it and a bit of every thing Thumbs Up

i just had a look on trademe at the vfr and the milage is a bit high,
and its in the south island, so you would have to add a few hundred to the price for you to get there and get the bike back on the ferry

wwhat about the fzr
https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=84394829&key=1521
less milage and its in the nth island (waikato so still a hefty ride back home)
or this cbr 600 $3800 or near offer so you coulsd get that for 3.5k

Rubber can be semi hard to find for them, not much choice. They are ok if you can get one cheap, if it's for transport I would stray away from old sports 400's simply because they are older, faired and parts are *harder* to find but not impossible.

Thanks for the road info hmmmnz, I will definately give that ago. And for the links to the other bikes also, I'm currently looking carefully at the FZR.

Much appreciated! Thumbs Up
