Ok, basically seen a Akapovic can for sale that is advertised to fit a 2003 CBR-RR but wondered if I buy a alternative connector pipe would it fit a 01 R6 just fine?

Probably a silly question, but I just want it clarified before I part with any cash! Wink

P.S. Any info on where to find appropriate link pipes greatly received! Thumbs Up

hi. you do realise the akra can for the rr is a different shape, dont you? BY all means you could get it to connect right but it would look extremely odd especially with the spout sticking out to the left or right

Sorry, think I got the models mixed up. I think it was one of the last CBR's before the underseat exhaust (FS Sport maybe?)

A pic is below:

Can size/style looks same.

You'd need an akrapovic link pipe for the r6. They go for £20-30. Think they're both 51-52mm slip ons so it should be do-able. Make sure the can is cheap (£100) so if it doesn't fit, you have no problems selling it on (and not losing any money)

Alternatively make life easier on yourself and buy the right can for your R6 with the link pipe included. Then you have got no worries about trying to make something else fit from a different bike.

If you have a 2005 or older R6 then all you would have to worry about is getting a link pipe if its from a CBR F or F-sport.

Shouldn't be hard to get one, you can either call Akra or I think there is another company that makes them?

Performance Parts (0870 240 2118) are the UK Akrapovic importers and I have used them before to get spare parts for an Akrapovic race can. I'm sure that they would be able to supply you with an R6 link pipe but you will need to make sure that the inlet port into the can is going to be the right size/shape and in the right place.

Also have you considered that you might need to buy the bracket to mount the can onto an R6 as it may be different from the CBR-RR bracket. Plus you will probably need the three springs to attach it to the link pipe and the clamp that attaches the link pipe to the stock R6 exhaust system.

It could end up being an expensive affair. Smile
