Hi guys, sorry if this has been posted before (quick search didnt find anything)

I'm looking at booking a crossing for the manx this year, me and two mates on the bikes.

What i want to know is how much roughly is the ferry crossing? seacat or the other/slower ferry, not too bothered, i've googled for about 30 mins and can't find any prices (or a seacat website)

Will i look a prat going to the manx on a 50?

And what are the laws over there regarding L plates etc? are they the same? as i've been told so many different things so im not too sure.

Thanks very much, Jake..

Not sure if prices are out yet Confused

But they will be on this website if they are. I am off to the IOM TT rather than the Manx and I ain't heard the final price for that yet. Sad

Yes you will look a prat on a 50cc but what the hell! You are young, you want to go to the island and if anyone gives you any grief go tell them to fuck themselves.
Enjoy.

I'm confused. Confused Surely the IOM TT and the Manx TT are the same thing?

Or did you think he meant the Manx GP?

Expect the prices to be VERY expensive this year as I believe it is some sort of anniversary or centenery or something.

I usually use Direct Ferries to check for times and prices but looking at their website it looks like all the ferries around TT time are already fully booked rather than not released yet.

Your best bet is probably to try a specialist travel agent like Nutts or try to find an organised trip to tag onto.

Rider's on provisionals can't ride over this site says.

You cannot drive in the Isle of Man if your driving license or driving entitlement issued outside the Island is only a "provisional" license or entitlement held by a learner driver.

You've left it way too late to take your bikes over this year. It was booked up by August. You might be able to get over as foot pasengers or fly.

As for prices, yeah, they havent been finalised still. Last year they were about 90ish from memory, but we'll have to wait and see how much they think they can get away with this year being the centenery.

My mate Phil is going over with his bike - ferry is costing him £150 return. £20 per night camping once he gets there.

Cos it was all paid for back in August last year. Has his tickets etc already. If you want to get in on the TT, you have to book it WELL in advance (ie: generally 12 - 15 months in advance)

Yeah I know its all booked up - I'm booked already for 5 days, but they only took a £20 deposit at booking. Steampacket said in their latest newsletter, December, that prices had not been announced yet for the TT. I havent heard anything since then?

I believe what is actually the 'Manx GP' (from what I can work out) is often refered to as the Manx TT - basically a lower level competition for good club level racers rather than international racers.

Could be tempted to try it myself some time, but I'd probably forget where all the corners go Neutral.
