As title says, how do the bikes aways point straight up in any picture of them? Browse any of the manufactorers sites and the bikes will always be vertical without any obvious means of support. Always made me wonder.

(first to say photoshop gets a slap! Laughing )

Probably a broom handle at a carefully chosen angle so it doesn't show.

Although Photoshop is probably the current method of choice.

All the best

They are often photographed in a studio, using a white stand against a white background and that picture is super imposed onto a background.

Thin strings? , my mechanic does NOT use stands of any kind , he uses a winch and ropes tied around the frame , use them thin enough ....

Also bricks under side stands , NC30s lean lots when on the side so you put bricks under it andits nearly verticle

Maybe someone holds the bike upright and the photographer shouts go, the stagehand legs it and he takes the shot before the bike hits the floor Laughing

Strange that, as mine has a low mileage replacement shock and all nc30's I've sat on and ridden have been the same. Wink

my mate's NC30 was almost upright on the stand, and it was caused by a knackered shock. getting a new one, and setting the static sag properly meant it sat higher, like it should.

Perhaps your preload is a bit low.

feef - Now you mention it my fazer is almost upright on its sidestand. Would this happen if someone has "lowered" the bike for a shorter person? Ive always had my suspicions that the bike has longer dog bones than standard as it feels very low when i sit on it.

Nah, it's fine. My old shock was knackered, so I'm aware of the difference.

easy. The photographer stands in a ditch and leans backward at a 30-degree angle. If there are any buildings in the background, then the foundations are either dug away or jacked up until the gradient matches that of the bike

This is exactly what they do. Photographer snaps the bike before it hits the ground, then people come in, pick it up, wheel it away, sweep up the debris and wheel in another bike for the next photo. It's not unknown for companies to get through a dozen identical bikes in a photoshoot.

Oh, come on - everyone know that one person rolls the bike from one side of the picture and another person catches it on the other side (both just out of frame), while the photographer uses an ultra-high shutter speed and flash to "freeze" the bike mid-shot.

Guys, guys, guys...I am sorry to tell you this, but you are all wrong.

You all heard of the Invisible Man right? Well he rides the bikes into the studio and sits on them whilst the photographer snaps away.

He was telling me he makes a fortune as he has no competition, hence he is in high demand for photo shoots all over the world. Lucky muvva fucka. Razz

The '98 R1 is the only bike that cannot be photographed upright.

I always thought that they drafted in Valentino Rossi to use his superhuman, physics-defying powers from a distance.

Silly me! Embarassed

sorry u are all wrong the bikes are copied in every minute detail,, and then constructed in polystirene,
then painted by those guys that charge half a million pound to spray paint your helmet u know the ones,
then all they do is use 2 of those long pins with the tiny heads so u dont see where its pined to the floor,

no one uses photo-shop thats just silly
