Ok guys and gals I'm trying to set up a plan for this year in regards to my R6.

Opinions/ideas/anticipated problems appreciated.

1: Replace yokes and forks with '98 R1 items
2: Jet kit (not sure on brand- recommendations?)
3: Replacement air filter (not sure on brand- recommendations?)

Any other ideas people?

Last year I changed the brake hoses for goodridge stainless ones, put on renthal/tsukabi chain and sprocket set, LED rear lights (from 2001 model), blue flame exhaust, michelin pilot power tyres.

Thanks in advance

Ok, fair point ^^^

I can't afford to buy/insure an R1...

I'm kind of getting into playing with things now that I've done the basic stuff. Maybe I'm reading PB a bit too much?

What sort of performance gains would I get from a jet kit combined with an air filter?

Maybe 5bhp or so through the range with a filling in of any dips.

Unless you put a '98 R1 jet kit & air filter in there, in which case you will gain at least 400bhp. Wink

I hadn't thought about the geometry actually, and i suppose that it would be harder sprung to cope with the heavier weight...

Me and my stupid brain, I just like the look of USD forks. I'm trying to individualise (if its a word) the bike, especially as its 9 years old now. I love riding my bike, but with a bad back at the moment, that's not going to happen, so I may as well have a tinker with it and get it how I like it.

From what I know; best 'gain' you'll get is telling people down the pub you've got it fitted Smile.

It may add a bit of power and if set up right should smooth the power delivery - but that's probably going to partly come from just cleaning the carb.

So I'd offer my stock answer; if you want a faster bike get some track time, or turn your right hand more Smile. PB does talk about riding as well as bling you know! Razz

Blue: I believe it is good bolted straight on; they are pretty similar bikes. However I would be spending the money on revised fork internals set up to suit the rider, which will offer a much better improvement I reckon.

Budget on getting someone to sort out the spring rates and damping.

More important is getting it set up by someone who knows what they are doing.

Small increase in power if you are lucky.

All the best

The 98 R1 parts will reject the attempted graft as being inferior, and seperate from them.

Noggin, get yourself booked on some trackdays, learn how to push the bike harder.

I've also found getting the suspension setup made a great deal of difference.

I'm not sure about track days because I'm on a restricted licence. Some places don't let you on do they?

I'll probably have to wait til my restriction is up in august.

Silverstone is also OK on a restricted licence, just mainly MSV circuits & Focused Events that don't allow them.
