Why do sportsbike owners have a law that says we are not allowed race cans when harley owners can have their bikes as loud as their engine bloody allows!!!! Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

it winds me up, i aint ever heard of a harley owner getting a ticket!!

All the best

As Kickstart says, the law is the same for both, just as the law also applies to chav-mobiles.

The difference comes with the riding of the sports riders compared to the cruiser boys - you're not too likely to get a hog rider doing 100mph on one wheel.

The same way sportsbikes do.

Don't disrespect the hog engine, it doesn't just appear in cruisers!

Do you know what? I bloody hate these whiney jap bikes with their screamer piercing race cans.

I don't know how they pass an MOT, especially as it is proven that higher frequency noise carries further and annoys more! Wink

People in glass houses etc etc!

If a Harley comes to me with Screamin' Eagles on then it fails in just the same way as an R1 with an Akrapovic.

I went to the dealer I bought the bike from. They said that if my bike had a race can it wouldn't pass.

Then I told them I bought the bike from them.

The proprietors answer was simply:

"Eh?"

Its something i always wondered - i think the Suberu Impretza rolls out the factory much louder as stock than any race can ive heard. Even worse are the ones with the aftermarket exhausts, yet they still get away with it. No roadside checks for them.

Hi

Cars have lower exhaust noise limits than bikes, and do get hassle over it.

Only reason the more intrusive rules were brought in with BS markings and the like on bike exhaust was because so many bikes had noisy exhausts.

All the best

I'm dissing them Razz They are vibey, slow, underpowered and don't even make as much torque as they should do to make up for it.

That was a 1340cc fuel injected engine with screamin eagle exhaust and flappy about air inlet thingy. It was pish, noisy but pish, struggled to hit 95 on the seven mile bridge in the Florida Keys.

They can be made to go faster but only if you replace most of the parts with different ones.

Or was it something so deeply metaphysical it would take years of contemplation to understand it?

Well thats funny, cos mine is good for 130, probably 140 with dropped gearing (cos it wouldn't rev out in top). Smile

Or flip that on it's head and say an R1 is shit cos it can't even get round a corner offroad, in fact it struggles to even go forward in mud...

I love it to be honest, park up at the bike rank in town and sometimes being carried from miles away you can hear the warcry of a bike Mr. Green

*10 mins later you actually see the bike*

I live very close to a long straight. and when im outside on a sunny day, you often hear things being ragged up there. Cars, AWSOME sounding bikes, my mates aprilia mille sounds hellish going up there. Have heard a few cruisers giving it some too, and they sound like a rapid-fire spud gun Laughing

i dont mind hearing lour bikes, i like to hear an engine working. when its muffled behind layers of baffle plates it sounds trapped.
