Derestricting it is simply letting it work as the manufacturer designed it to work. It's not overstressing the engine or anything.

The only reason they are sold restricted in this country is to comply with the licencing laws.

But too many people don't know what they are doing and only do half a job or try to squeeze the last once of power out of the small engine.....In the end it will go pop. Wink

depense on your serial number (between the yokes & begin by ZDCJC22..... if it's 1993 and later) , because it depense on the country make and the year , if you want a guide give it to me . have a look here https://www.geneva-racing.com/~alains/NSRtips.doc

a quick search here should have give you the solution . however the recommanded jets are : main 138 , slow (idle) 42 , power 65
https://www.dellorto.co.uk carb is 28PHBH/FD (1993 & later) or 28PHBH/FS (1989-1992)

Isn't it a restrictor welded into the exhaust and a plate in the airbox?? Just take those out and re-jet. Don't be surprised for it to go bang though, NSR's can be quite fragile once de-restricted.

the plate is not in the airbox but between carb and reed block and i do know a bike which is running with . the best de-restriction on UK or IT bikes is a race pipe . also french , swiss & german import have special restrictions , this is why serial number is important . i think you have a lot more to learn on NSR's
