Tyres for NSR

Hi!

Just wondered if anyone knows if the standard dimension tyres on the NSR is the biggest that will fit? The rear is 130/70 -17 and the front is 100/80 -17. By looking at the bike it doesn't seem like anything bigger will fit. Can you do some mods etc. to make this possible?

Why would you want to apart from making the tyre look bigger?

It will upset the handling and speed of the bike. Bigger tyres may make the bike look a bit better (in that it may make it look like a bigger bike than it is) but the fact it will bugger up the handling alone is reason not to.

Hmm.... Yeah, ok. I was just wondering if it was possible. Thought about doing it because of the looks, but if it's messing up the handling and such there's no way I'm going to do it. It isn't worth it then.

Whats a good dunlop for the rear of my 91' NSR , got a dunlop on the front. where cn i buy online? size is, 130/70-18

Dunlop smell, thats Mark putting cheap tires on the bike for you.
Don't have to match, as long as they do the job.

buy a BT45 or a pirelli of the same comound and composite =)

Get a Bridgestone. I've got a BT39 front and BT45 rear. Or is that the other way round...

Anywho, I think i need to get a new front cos I've noticed some cracks in it along the edges of the tread. Erk.

Tractor tyre on the rear, no wonder the back end skids if i drop the clutch going round a bend!

Where can i get a BT45 ? cheapest would be nice!

Maybe mark should pay for it hehe !

Various tyre places - buy MCN and call all the tyre places in bikemart. Some northern tyre place was getting a crate full of assorted bridgestones back in march, so they might have a competitive price for you. Blue advert i think.

Generally there is little competition on BT45s, so you'll have to hunt for a bargain.

If you have a radial on the front, or want matched tyres, a pair of michelin hi-sports are good, and make a cheap pair from www.motorbike-tyres.com

I take the wheels off myself and take them down to the local bike shop to get the tyres popped on, however i will sometime take them down to ATS where it should be cheaper.
