Hi!

When I read about de-restricting the exhaust i understand that there is a restrictor in the silences which must be drilled out... Is that all about the exhaust system? Is the front part fully open? There are many, hmm, don't know what it's called in english, powerexhaust? (like gianelli, arrow and so on) Will these give any more effect than the original de-restricted? Thanks for any info you can give me

Christ. Don't mean to be rude but this is the 3rd NSR question you have started a new topic for in 10 minutes, and one which has been covered more times than I can count. Please use the SEARCH function, or if you need to ask 3 questions all NSR-related, you only need to start one thread.

It depends on where you're bike is from. If it is a UK model there is one exhaust restrictor and one in the inlet manifold infront of the reed valves. If it is an import, it varies from country. On my website I am currently writing a guide to de-restricting NSR's from all countries. If it will help in any way, you can have a look by clicking here and looking in the 'Articles and guides'.

Welcome to the forum, sorry if I sounded like I was inpolite before but please use the search button.

Most likely France or Germany. In which case, there is an exhaust restrictor, but it is further inside the exhaust system, just around the bend from where the exhaust meets the engine. To remove it, you have to cut the exhaust in half, remove the ring, and weld it back together again. Then there are other restrictors, depending on whether it is german or french. As I say, if you can tell where it is from I can help more Very Happy .

Hmm... Maybe it would be best to get a whole new unrestricted exhaust system, since it would mean I have to make serious mods on the exsisting one. If you get caught in norway with tuned parts, you have to show the original parts on the bike to get your plates back Confused Any experience with exhaust systems like arrow and such? What is good, and what is bad?

Dear Everybody, this is my first time on site, so be patient. I have just derestricted my NSR, having passed my test on July 28th. YESSS!!! I encountered one problem, due to inexperience, and would like to make others aware. I was teararsing along, when my bike stopped due to overheating. I had accidentally disconnected the oilpipe from the carb, during removal and replacement, and hadn't noticed! Luckily, no harm done, and the problem soon rectified, but it could have been so much worse. Everybody check that the oilpipe is securely connected before getting too eager about firing up your newly enpowered pride and joy. Best regards to everybody, Mike.

Ezert, the NSR de-restriction guide on my website (125cc UK) is now complete and covers all UK & import models, so you should be able to find all the info you need there.

Cheers,
Lee
