Is it just me or do gloves wear out to darn quick on everyone else too.

Not to mention they can be expensive buggers for what little there is of them.

Ok I get the safety factor here but Im going through a pair roughly every six months.

And no Im not using them for self satisfaction at home after the ride either before anyone asks.

Ive got 3 pair now with the palm torn and fingers coming out the end.

I went and got a cheapish pair the other week and will see how they go.

They look shit but if they work and last then I think it might be the way to go.

I use my gloves every day and they're fine! How much are you spending?

I got a £100 pair of gloves (reduced to £50) and they're as good as new for touring/daily commute/weekend rides.

The secret is to go for top of the range gloves every time, but buy winter gloves in summer, and summer gloves in winter - hence the discounts! Idea

Bought some thick winter style ones from Sportex in 1990 and still are OK, even more or less waterproof - not worn daily but probably at least 20 times a year when its cooler.
They were about £35.

I have a pair of Alpinestars SP1's which are about 18 months old now... been used daily for the past 5-6 months, and still look just about brand new, so I'm at a loss about what you could be doing to wear out a number of pairs of gloves in only 6 months Shocked

Got 2 pairs of gloves - one pair for racing the sidecars, one pair for roaduse, in use ALL year round in all weathers, 365 days a year.

Both pairs cost £20 each from the bargain buckets at the tradestands at the MCN Butlins Shows. Both are approaching their 3rd year of use with no damage whatsoever, other than a slight nick in the set I use for racing when I inadvertantly stuck my hand in the wheelhub when I missed me grabrail.

Lidl 12 quid bike gloves, used just about every day for almost two years now, look slightly scruffy as you'd expect, but aren't broken in any way and don't leak.

shit just as I thought. i

ts just me.

Ive been spending around the $100 dollar mark.

Was thinking it might be better to spend a bit more but figured the cheaper route would make more sense to check out first.

Im wondering if the Australian heat might have something to do with it. Making them warmer/softer or something?

Who knows. ok money spending time I guess.

Cheers boys

My summer gloves don't stand up to crashing all that well. One more and I'd say they've had it. They've stood up to 2 fairly major ones well though.

My winter gloves are beautifully warm, but my skin gets pissed off with them, so they'll be binned come summer. They were only £8 off eBay.

I've got those, but original. Got them for about 50 Euros!!!!

There's this AMAZING shop I came across in Italy which only does end-of-line top of the range stuff for like 50% discounts.

Their website is shit (as they don't have anything on it, but its worth taking the trip just for the bloody savings!!!!

Canella Moto is the name, if you happen to pay a trip to Italy.....

I've had my Frank Thomas Strike gloves for over two years now and they're fine. They obviously don't look new, but they're not falling apart either. I think they were £40-60, but I got mine free with the Strike jacket due to an offer at the time and I bought the trousers too.

I've been using some alpinestars SPS gloves daily for over a year now (bought them at the NEC in 2005) and they're fantastic, they're barely worn, just nicely raxed (is that a word?) in.
They're not very warm in winter but I got by with them with the use of some inner gloves. I can't get along with proper winter gloves, I don't like the lack of feel.

When I first rode in the cold and wore my winter gloves it felt really strange. I got used to it though, but you can't beat your summer gloves.

I always use soft semi-winter glove with long sleeve.
I buy the new ones when the finger part wears out, but not so often(about every 2 years).

Wear these year around. Bought them march.

They're definately summer gloves, but with heated grips I can live with em. They've saved my hands on one occasion, with only a very small graze across the knucle. Very impressed, since I've always bought cheapo gloves before.

I bought a pair of summer leather gloves for about £25-£30 two years ago, i wear them 10 months of the year and they are still fine, apart from the plastic moulding over the knuckles have cracked after an accident.

Melted just sprang to mind...

I have a set of Riossi summer gloves that are excellent and Hein Gericke winter gloves that are now 8 years old and still going strong. I haven't bought gloves for about three of four years now.

The Riossi ones were £60 and the Hein Gericke were £35.

Cheers
