How deformed is your head?

According to helmet manufacturers, that is. I have 2 lids, and the chinpieces of both touch my chin. Almost every replacement I've tried has the same problem to a greater or lesser extent, and I'm willing to bet that having a tarmac/face interface episode while in contact with the chinpiece is likely to break/dislocate my jaw.

So, it this a common problem? Does it bother you? Should it bother me? Is there a lid manufacturer that actually makes an allowance for this?

Excluding crosser-type lids, obviously.

I use a Vemar lid and that has quite a big gap

The Caberg has quite a big gap but I think the arai has the biggest of all those I have tried.

sounds about right to me. If you really need to protect your chin, then growing a bloody big beard seems to be the most practical alternative. Although I've got an hjc lid that seems to give me plenty of breathing space around the chin, but it does look comedically large compared to most lids.

It'd be interesting to find out whether this sort of injury's common. Has anybody attempted to use their face to stop a fall before?

I found Arai's were very close too though.

I find if I'm in a rush I get jaw ache... I have a terrible habit of forcing my chin out till it touches the inside of my helmet (Caberg V2 ).. I have no idea why, I guess it's just one of those things that happens when you concentrate loads... or maybe I'm just different.

I had to remove the breath guard from my KBC as it would press into my nose at speed. Also, I just cannot get a Shoei lid to fit. Even the largest is well too tight...

I had a caberg V2 and i remember my chin touching it, Would sometimes lead to a sore jaw.

Now i have a Craft RX7 which my nose touches the front bit...

My forehead always seems to cause discomfort with new lids, After a few weeks the padding shapes to my 'heed'

My Arai is a tight fit. Not enough room in there for a fog-mask. My chin doesn't tough the bar but my bottom lip rubs against it occasionally. I pull funny expressions when I'm riding, obviously.
