I bought an nc24 with a 33bhp restriction certificate, which claims to restrict the speed to 96mph. As i was opening up the throttle i noticed i was doing about 100mph at 10000rpm with another gear to go. I'm not sure if it would have the power to rev higher then change up a gear and to rev to the red line, and i'm not really confident enough to try it yet (I'm 17). Does anyone know if the restrictor cuts in suddenly and stops further acceleration at a certain speed, or is it simply not restricted?

The restrictors limit the amount of air/fuel that gets into the cylinders. It will make acceleration slower and lower the top end speed. Somewhere between 95 and 110 seems to be the norm for a 33bhp bike. Depends on the road/weather/stars/moons etc.

Sounds to me like the bike is restricted. I've never been on a 400 though. I doubt you'd get much more out of the next gear, it'll just be more efficient.

could always spend a bit of time and see if theres washers installed?

you need a little knowledge of what you doing though, im sure theres a few threads in the workshop section showing how to do it.

or it could be a throttle stop...
