HJC carbon lid

Hi,

these HJC carbon lids are going on ebay for 199 quid new at the moment, sounds like a bargain to me especially as the lower-spec HJC I have at the moment is decent and they do well in the Ride tests.

Has anyone got one? what do you think of it and do you notice the weight difference?
I can't find many good pictures on the net, so if anyone has pictures of it (especially the lordship paint scheme) it would be appreciated

Hein Gricke are knocking them out a £225 I believe It's abit more trustworthy than ebay plus if something goes wrong, there pretty much no quibble returns. I tried it on but choose the agv titech because it was a nicer fit. I did have an old hjc one before my agv and it was a lot heavier than both of them (the hjc carbon is a bit lighter than the agv)

I come off at 80 in a HJC and rate them highly, the only prob is if you don't seal the visor tidy they sound like a train going past

And at that price I would take one if I had the cash

I didn't know you could get carbon fibre lids until I recently saw a Boxer cup one, 998g iirc.

Never thought carbob fibre to be that strong. light yes, but also very brittle. Suprised you can get lids made from it.

it could be carbon fibre means you can make the helmet lighter for the same strength, but as its a new use of it, I cant help being a bit suspicious that its properties might not be suitable for this application.

Id be interested to see how they stand up to testing, so if they did well in a bike mag, I might be less sceptical.

I have one, from the same sell on ebay no less.

It very light, comfortable and also comes with a handy breath guard and chin skirt.

It is a little noisy however, but shock horror the vents work!

The very front vent blows air straight onto your visor, very good at clearing it if it gets abit misty.
The other two on the top go straight to your forehead or just above.
Its abit weird however to be able to see right through the helmet from those top two.

How it stands up in a crash, I have no idea and I hope never to find out.

I've got an HJC among others and it's a fine lid for the money, but the lordship got slated for it's venting. And as was rightly pointed out by Bike magazine '200 quid is Shoei money'.

I can vouch for the saftey of carbon fibre lids. I was wearing one when I had my off in December, and from the looks of it, it hit the groud fairly hard 4 or 5 times. There is no sign of it being compromised (although I'm obviously not going to use it again).

Can't comment on the quality of the HJC ones, but I will definately be buying another carbon one

i do like the quality of the HJC lids. they just feel really nice.
i was sorely tempted by the carbon lid as it just seems really different. wonder if on the decal versions you can see any of the carbon, as that's what would make it a sale for me tbh.

have seen them on display at shows, they're much better to look at in person. only saw the "carbon only" one though. incredibly light and incredibly sexy. what with ally pally and excel coming up, you shouldnt have too much trouble finding one there.
