If you want a bike that can get ridiculous lea angle etc, start with a competition motocross or enduro bike.

Use the engine which comes with the bike Smile

Oops, my bad. Seem to have been particularly bad at mis-reading things at lunch time.

Personally, I would like to merge a CR500 engine in a light state of tune with a Honda RS250 or similar chassis.
A KTM 250EGS in a 125cc GP chassis also seems quite appealing - pretty light, but with auto lube and good service intervals.

Sadly off road bikes (two or four stroke) tend to eat their engine before they get too bent to use.

Usually supermonos will use a 600cc plus engine from a big trailie. Presuming you're going for performance, look for a water cooled one. XR650 engines make reasonable power with reasonable reliablity and a big range of tuning parts available.
If you want serious power along with light weight at the expense of reliablity, look for a 650 husaberg or similar husquavarna lump. Of course a 500cc two stroke crosser can be made to give very nice amounts of power - 100hp with some /serious/ tuning!

Don't fancy a 2T really. Rs250 is on the wish list for that.

Was thinking along the mito lines. Not sure what powerplant to go for as yet, have to see what's about.

The szr/xt/tt/raptor 660 engines go in easily. Rob Sturgess' 660 mito is easily one of the best looking mitos i've ever seen in my life. There was also a petronas coloured mito 660 in mcn a few weeks back. The newer engines are fuel-injected, so there'll be some remapping needed if they don't have an oxygen sensor. A good ol' carbed model would probably be best.

The mito chassis is definitely one to go for given the way the engine mounts and the fork and brake spec. The frame is easily strong enough, too. I've got a frame i'm using for mocking up parts for my planet, so that should be ready to be sold on in a few months.
