I suspect my 'busa battery is fecked. Either that or the charger is. Anyhoo, I have a new one on order.

So, given that I have a Datatool Veto on there, anything I should do before yanking the existing one out? I'm just presuming disarm alarm, turn ignition on (not start), hold remote, put into service mode, turn ignition off, remove battery....

Yay? Nay?

Yep service mode should be fine as long as you replace the battery quick like. The batteries in the old EVO's were never that good to begin with and if its a few years old could be on its last legs.

What happens if it's "too long"?

From memory its resetup the alarm, after making it recognise the various fobs youve got for it.

Hmm, is there a manual (with pictures) around anywhere? I would have *no* idea, and would rather avoid wheeling it to a dealer (possibly with anything blaring/not starting)

I've found the info on the Datatool site, however given that I have no idea where the bloody fuse is, or which wires they are chuntering on about, I don't want it to snuff it Smile

In theory it should only be in service mode and without the main battery for about 1 minute (unscrew, remove connections, remove battery, replace with charged new battery, and reconnect!)

I suppose the aforementioned fitters would be able to help you out there mate, didnt have the bike w/ the veto long enough to ever need one, tbh.

If you don't mind a few small sparks:

1. connect your battery charger up +ve to to the always live terminal on the starter relay and -ve to any earth point on the bike.
2. Remove the old battery
3. Put in the new battery.

The charger will keep enough voltage on the bike while it is sans battery to keep the alarm from powering down.

This might not work if you have a clever-clogs type charger (optimate etc). If that's the case, use a third battery instead of the charger.

finpos.

A few minutes shouldn't be a problem.

Or a set of jump leads from a car to keep a constant current would do the job nicely. Thumbs Up

After all this, I bought an Optimate, and a new battery (just in case). £100 all in.

And the Optimate has green lighted the old battery after 4 hours. I've fitted up the connector leads, and hopefully will be off at the w/e Smile

Ta for all help Smile

...and as an update, the new battery is in (was charged first) alarm survived the transfer, and I'm now checking the Optimate connections Smile
