Ok, I passed my test today (Yay!)... last week I went to a bike dealer and seen a nice FZ6 sitting with low mileage for a very good price. So had a word with the dealer and he checked the book price on an 06 RS125. He said he'd give me £2000 for it with 5500 miles on it. That was fine, I knew I would drop a good bit on it (bought new 9 months ago £3900). Anyway that would mean I would get the FZ6 for £500.
On the way home from my test the bike stopped in the pissing down rain (5 times in about 3 months, always in the rain). Had to call my dad to see if he could pick me up with the work van. I had to get to a bit of shelter from the wind to speak to him and when I turned round the bike was on its side. Luckily it was the side it was down on before so wasn;t so bad but I have a bent clutch lever, scuffed rear end (the bike not me) and cracked indicator lens.
Basically what I want to know is if I take the day off work tomorrow to sort the bike out, do you think if I took it to the dealer on Saturday I would be able to exhange bikes there and then on the day? As it is a good 30 miles from my place and I don't want to go there and back twice. I have an insurance quote sorted just needs set up. I don't want to get in direct contaxct with the dealer because he'll probably think the bike is a shit heap.
Thanks for the help folks. ____________________ Kawasaki Z1000 '05

Thanks for the reply mate.
He's an independent dealer and asked me on saturday if I'd had any problems with the bike before, think he knows how tempermental they are, obviously I told him it was the best bike in the whole world. But if I was to ring him and ask to change on the day would it not sound a bit suspicious? ____________________ Kawasaki Z1000 '05

Should not be a problem, if it has been down on that side before and you have fixed all the obvious things, i doubt he would remember exactly how many scratches it had when he saw it.
As far as the insurance goes, agree a time to collect, and set the insurance to change over 1/2 way through the time you expect to be there. Alternatively some brokers will be ok if you arrange to call them before riding away, if they have it all set up prior.
Oh and if it is raining, get your old man to give you and the bike a lift to about a mile away, then ride it from there, she will be clean, warm, and unlikely to conk out on you when you need it least. ____________________ Grey haired bikers don't get that way from pure luck.
