Accelerated No Claims...

Just a quick question... If you were to get the accelerated NCB from an insurance company then the next year changed to a different company, would the NCB still count?

I had this with my car insurance company - a 10-month accelerated no-claims bonus. My insurance was up for renewal after 10 months and I wanted to go to another (cheaper) insurer, but they said I couldn't claim a whole year's NCB. Apparently, it was only valid if I renewed my policy with them - and the 'bonus' was a negative one (my insurance premium still increased).

Sayin' that - if you've been insured for a whole twelve months, albeit perhaps with two different insurers, and without making any claims on the policy, doesn't that automatically count as one years' no-claims anyhow?

sorry to hijack but, I have had my moped policy run from October 05 - October 06, then my nsr's insurance has run from June 06 and will end June 07, at the end of this will I have 2 years no claims bonus, considering I won't have had my license for 2 years in that time?

Presuming you had a valid licence to ride both (ie cbt w/ moped and nsr) you'd have 2 years NCB

what the hell has happened to NCB, years ago it used to mean, being insured for x years and not having a claim in that time=x discount. now there seems to be every kind of caveat, you cant transfer this, that dosent count here etc. it used to be that a letter from the previous insurer stating you had been free of claims was enough, now it seems to require more than that
