cockrockets!
I can hereby confirm that while Firestorm sidestands can withstand the weight of a 2-bike trailer on them (with both bike wheels off the ground) Firestorm wing mirrors can't.
the trailer was leaning against the side of the house. it's not as if there's any large panels to act like a sail on a bike trailer, but it's still blown over. Luckily it looks like there's no other damage apart from the wing mirror.
I've lost 3 fence panels on the drive between my neighbour and I. dunno if there's any come down in the back garden, it's a bit dark.. but I can see my windsurfer has broken it's straps and is lying at the end of the garden
The drive's also got a horrible oil slick, where a FULL recycling wheely bin was blown over onto an old oil holder that I was using to hold, um old oil.. and it's burst it. (I hadn't got round to taking it to the reycling center)
Hope the two monstrous trees are okay..

Fookin' hell, that sounds bloody windy to say the least!
What are you going to do about the oil slick? Dump sand on it?
Shit one about the straps on the board, but they're easy enough to replace ____________________ wizzzard wrote: Imagine God just stopping by, tidying your front room up and then quietly letting himself out again. Statisticly more likely to happen than Korn being on here. |

Maybe someone should point this out to councils, the Highways agency and the DFT... ____________________ www.bikepics.com/members/jackcheese <--- NOW FOR SALE! 51 Plate Cagiva Planet 125

I know how you feel, i really tied my cover on my bike back at the start of december, only to come home from work last night and find it had blown past 4 houses in the street, and was in the 5th house's garden tree's. we have a camera system as our previous bikes have been stolen, watched the cover fook off like a balloon just after 1pm! ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. I'd also not expect a trailer that is heavy enough to need two people to lift it, to be moved by a gust of wind. |
The wind manages to move large sailing ships weighing many thousands of tonnes. It also manges to turn 50meter wind turbine blades made of sheet metal.. and that's not even in gale force strength winds....so why should it struggle with a mere trailer? |
because yachts have sails, which are made up of hundreds of square feet of material, designed to take the force of the wind and translate it into forward motion.
Wind turbine blades are far from thin, will move very easily, and are far from light (for their size) and use aerodynamics to translate wind force int orotational motion.
Motorcycle trailers, on the other hand, are made from galvanised steel sections, have wheels, and a couple of troughs to put a bike in.
Perhaps I should tell Ellen Macarthur to not worry about finding millions of pounds to reasearch methods of lessening Von Karman vortexes around the mast and other tubular sail components.. she can just stick a 2-bike Trelgo onto the hull and sail that around the world.
sheesh.. children these days
