Hi,

I passed my bike test nearly 2 years ago, but prior to that I was a a learner.

Now my insurance is up for renewal and the question is how many NCB okay 2 years, then how many full years have a you held a full license. Well the answer is 1 year (in 2 months it will be 2 years).

Now i've got quotes and that's all okay.

But should I just insure the bike say with ebike for the next couple of months and then get a new insurance quote, showing I've held a license for 2 years.

People who went with a training school will never have had this problem.

Any advice appreciated.

It shouldn't make any difference. You're earning no claims from when you insure a bike, not from when you pass your full licence. The fact that you were a learner shouldn't make a difference. I don't think you'll really save anything in the long run by fucking about.

Same here, I have had a full licence for 2.5 years but have 5.5 years NCB at the moment. There were a couple of companies that I couldn't get online quotes from when I first passed my test but other than that it has never caused any problems for me.

You should probably check out how much cheaper your insurance will be when you've had your licence two years.

Remember, if you do two months of PAYG insurance, that won't count towards NCB like a regular policy would. So in the grand scheme of things you might be worse off.

Yeahh I know it affects insurance

Because my wife passed her car test 3 years ago (she's on my insurance) and it has got cheaper each year.

Saying that i've just tried Carol Nash and they ask when you passed your CBT and how many months you've had your insurance.

Best quote so far £400 fully comp all together for both my bikes (Z750s and ER5)

Counts from whenever youve had insurance from - doesnt matter what you ride.

You can get that quote down a lot more, may work out cheaper to get a FC policy on the zed that allows you to ride any vehicle insured then insure the er tpft.

same here from the time you are a learner you are earning no claims bonus it just means you are restricted to a learner bike, you have not said how long you were a learner for? I past my bike test in july but I have ridden for 2 .5 years before that but when I told them I had past the test the insurance company wasnt to bothered except congrats.my insurance for my bike 750cc from a 125cc is only £270 age 36 and 3 points plus an accident (not my fault but driver could not be traced so insurance put it down as my fault even though I was not in the car) which I did not think was overly priced

eBike aren't bothered about me having more NCB than years I've held the license. Your situation is quite legit, there won't be any problems.

Phoning in, playing companies off each other and asking for more and more till they don't budge no more will lower it spectacularly.
