try to steer clear of the cbr600rr, they're supposed to be very thirsty. do some research first before deciding which bike to settle on, go for some test rides. the last thing you do is buy a bike without looking into the handling, economy and the running and servicing costs. ask a dealer for some costings, then make your mind up.
for your budget, look at the newest bike you can afford. if buying from a dealer, negotiate some extras (clothing, tank of fuel, free service) into the deal. it won't harm to ask, just have some bare faced cheek (works for me every time) .
be prepared to walk away from the deal, if they want to sell, then you may get something.maybe ask for a couple of things.
on that point, wait to be approached in the showroom. more than likely the person who approaches you will be friendly and softer to your requests for extras. try to buy at the end of the month, when the sales targets need to be met.
GOOD LUCK mate. ____________________ There is always someone worse off than you ! |

If you can only have 1 bike, stick to something comfortable but sporty to satisfy all your needs. Take a look at these, I guess....
VFR800
CBF1000
Any BMW
Triumph Sprint ST
Although bare in mind that servicing costs on the BMWs and VFR are gonna be higher than therest.
Happy buying! (I'm sure that there are loads of people who'd love to be in your position!) ____________________ Kawasaki ER6n -> Honda CBR600RR -> Honda VTR 1000 -> Moto Guzzi Norge 1200
