With my current insurance policy (1 yr NCB on a GS500E TPO ONLY) It would cost me an extra £200 to go fully comp on a £4,000 Triumph Tiger Razz

I'd love to be able to add an additional bike for so little. My average quote for my YBR was £550 TPFT, and two seperate insurances brokers just laughed down the phone when I told them my post code.

I've started to look into what I'm going to do next when I pass my test. I fancy getting either a NC30 or a 600 sports and someone suggested that I keep the YBR as a cheap commuter, but after researching uprgrading my policy I've realised it would probably be cheaper to move house...

Ouch. FZR600 on its own policy was £80.

All the best

My VFR400 only costs £40 to have on my policy. If your main bike is higher risk it's usually a minimal fee for additional bikes of lower risk.

Surprised Surprised Surprised Surprised Surprised Surprised Surprised Surprised Surprised Surprised

i dont Beleve this!

got a quote the other day.. £3000......... wait for it...

TPFT! ......... think il avoid further embrassment by telling you what bike it was.

Dont mean to steal thread.. but does anyone know if you buy a motorbike brandnew off a dealer you get a years free insurance or something.. the amount i would be paying for a bike+insurance... probably get a brand new one for cheaper!

ive seen car dealers do this... but isit common for motorbike dealers to do this aswell?

Bit pricey that. My courier policy is only £15 per extra bike and the trade policy covers me on everything. Wink

£3000 TPFT?

I did a quote the other day for a Buell XB12R online and it came to £1700. But thinking about it, I am only 20 and it's insurance group16 which is higher than the R6. I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer Crying or Very sad

Do you have some special multibike policy or something? And who are you with?

For £30 I could totally afford a green laner.

MCE Multi bike policy. Cost me £280 for the XB12R with the RGV. Plus £30 to add the KE. Pretty damn good value considering I pay £600 for the MR2 insurance! Smile

Who you insured with Gaz?

Just phone them up and ask if you can add to your policy. My old carole nash policy let me, and so do Bennetts.

Worth a phonecall.

Ah but then if they say it's cheap I'll buy one. And I really can't afford another bike.

I live in central Bristol with no garage, and I'm struggling to live with the amount of money I have. Let alone finding somewhere to ride/keep an XR250.

It'll have to wait 'til I finish uni.

What bike was it? you have to bear in mind the Buell only makes 90bhp, whereas an R6 or something makes 110bhp+

Its not just about engine capacity.

Thats less than a quarter of the capacity!! Wink

CBR250's are rare imports and as such may have artificially inflated insurance costs. Have you looked at something like a CB500?

You can do it on any Norwich union policy over 350cc.

probably wouldnt insure me on a CB500

found a quote for a 1.1 Corsa £3500 TPFT .... bloody rediculous

maybe i should be lookin at a scooter or a 4 stroke 125! bet they would still wana charge £2k or something crazy like that

"Would you like a bike with that insurance?"

thats why i asked ... do dealers offer free insurance on some bikes if you buy them brandnew?

In other news, my insurers have offered me a healthy renewal of £367, which they can stick up their arses as Bennetts are offering me it for £267.

And I plan to try get it cheaper, hopefully. Very Happy
