PostPosted: 20:19 - 24 Jan 2007    Post subject: wife knocked down by biker Reply with quote

I just had a call from the missus saying she went to cross the road (without looking) and at the last minute saw a bike hurtling towards her, as she went to move the biker moved in the same direction, we've all done it walking towards someone and they move left as you move right and you nearly collide but you stop and work it out.

Tonight on her way home from work, my wife did just that but the other person had a bike, not sure how big the bike was but she went down and so did the biker.

When i spoke to her the ambulance was just pulling up, she said she had grazes and some pain in her leg, so i hope it's nothing more than that, now her phone is off and i'm abit worried although i'm sure she's in safe hands.

Question is, should i feel sympathetic in a case like this?
I bet the riders relatives are none too happy about some "stupid pedestrian" walking in front of him.

I'm at work now and there's nothing i can do about seeing her, it also means i may not be getting any dinner tonight Wink

Your wife is being taken to hospital and you can't leave work to be with her?
Who the hell do you work for?!

Regardless...

Why did you marry this woman??

Were I in your shoes, and it was the person I 'loved' I'd walk out... If it meant losing my job... Well I wouldn't want to work there anyhow!

My God!!! It's your WIFE! Rolling Eyes

well from the sounds of things it was low speed so no one too seriously hurt.

i think sympathy for her injuries, but not sympathy for what she did.

Personally i think she should compensate the biker for his bike damage if it was a simple case of her stepping out without looking and he wasnt in the wrong.

However get him to sign something to say he wont sue for injuries or loss of earnings in the future.

Sadly it might be easier to not admit any liability rather than get a huge law suit.

Maybe send the biker a card yourself, saying you are a biker and apologise for your wife's behaviour.

As already mentioned, I hope both 'victims' are ok.

but priorities here.....Get yourself to the hospital Exclamation

I empathise with the biker, but we've all been pedestrians too.
Where's that bloomin green cross code man when ya need him eh Question Rolling Eyes Wink

What could you possibly be doing that you can't leave work?

Other than posting on an internet forum, that is?

First, glad it isn't serious!

Second, tell her to look both ways.

Third, get the fuck out of work, scre them, if they get pissy sue them for unfair dismissal.

Last, Colin, send a card apologising for her behaviour, nice way to stand by your loved ones. *spolier* colin will die alone.

just spoke to her, she's ok, didn't hit her head or anything bad, just some bruises and scrapes, she's getting a cab home and i'm so relieved she's o.k.

Think the biker is in trouble though, no lights and going to fast, no wonder she didn't see him 'till the last minute, swine.

I'll be spending all day with her tomorrow now, even though her leg doesn't hurt now i bet it will in the morning.

Colin, you never make any sense and you're not helping right now.

To origional poster:

Sorry to hear about your wife, just imagine if you were the biker and someone walked out infront of you (i.e. don't do anything rash!).
